welcome occasional visits to its Mayfair office for collaboration and team time.The roleThis is a true full stack position.They need someone strong in React and TypeScript who can build polished, reliable customer-facing software, but who is equally capable of contributing across backend services, APIs, application logic, databases, and data-rich workflows.The platform supports complex energy processes across areas such as billing, metering, consumption, reporting, and asset performance. You will be responsible for taking those workflows and turning them into clear, scalable products that customers genuinely value.Initially, you will lead much of the engineering work independently. You will not, however, be expected to operate without support. The business can provide access to external engineering expertise and additional coding support where needed as the platform and codebase develop.This role offers genuine autonomy. You will have the freedom to make sensible technical decisions, shape engineering standards, and influence how the product evolves as the company grows.What you will be doingLeading the development of customer-facing products from initial concept through to productionBuilding modern frontend applications using React and TypeScriptDesigning and developing backend services, APIs, integrations, and application logicWorking with Python, SQL, databases, and data platformsTaking ownership of architecture, technical decisions, and engineering standardsTurning complex energy and operational data into clear, intuitive product experiencesWorking closely with product, data, leadership, and external engineering partnersBuilding a scalable and maintainable codebase from the ground upHelping define the future engineering team and technical direction as the business expandsWhat they are looking forStrong commercial experience across both frontend and backend engineeringExcellent React and TypeScript capabilityStrong backend development experience, ideally including PythonGood experience with APIs, databases, SQL, and system integrationsA track record of leading projects or taking ownership of major technical workstreamsExperience building customer-facing software from scratchStrong product instincts and the ability to think beyond individual ticketsConfidence making technical decisions and working with a high level of autonomyExcellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholdersPersonality and attitude are particularly important.
