Data Architect

We’re supporting a major public sector organisation undertaking a large-scale Legacy technology transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Data Architect to lead technical discovery and migration planning activities. This role will play a key part in assessing a complex Legacy estate, helping define migration approaches, evaluating data extraction options, and providing technical assurance across the discovery phase of the programme., * Provide technical architecture leadership across a major data migration discovery initiative.

• Assess large and complex Legacy database environments and identify migration options.
• Evaluate data extraction feasibility, risks and technical constraints.
• Support reverse-engineering activities to understand existing data structures and dependencies.
• Define and review technical approaches, designs and architecture artefacts.
• Ensure solutions align with wider enterprise architecture principles and future-state objectives.
• Work closely with technical, programme and stakeholder teams to drive informed decision-making.
• Provide assurance that proposed migration approaches are robust, practical and scalable.

To be considered, you must have recent public sector/government experience and be eligible for SC clearance., * Strong background in Data Architecture, Technical Architecture or Enterprise Architecture.

• Proven experience delivering large-scale data migration or Legacy modernisation programmes.
• Extensive experience working with Oracle database environments.
• Experience assessing complex estates and managing discovery activities.
• Strong understanding of data extraction, migration planning and technical risk assessment.
• Experience producing and reviewing architecture documentation and technical artefacts.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

• Public sector or government programme experience.
• Experience working on large transformation or technical debt reduction initiatives.
• Knowledge of cloud migration and modernisation strategies.

Clearance & Eligibility

• Must be a UK Citizen.
• Must have 5 years continuous UK residency.
• BPSS clearance required (sponsorship available).

• End: March 2027
• Location: Remote within the UK, with occasional travel as required
• Rate: Up to \u00a3680/day (Inside IR35)
