Software Engineer

Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to support one of the nation’s premier defense research organizations. Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain full-stack applications supporting advanced bioanalytics and data-driven initiatives. The role includes developing scalable software, bioinformatics tools, and AI-driven solutions using complex biological datasets.The ideal candidate will have experience with full-stack development, data integration, software architecture, and building secure, reliable applications.

• 5 years Schema definitions and data modeling for SQL databases
• 5 years AWS development (S3, IAM, RDS, EC2, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, ECR, EKS)
• 5 years Software Documentation
• 5 years JavaScript/React
• 5 years Proficiency in modern Python (e.g. Flask, SQLAlchemy, boto3)
• 5 years Designing and developing cloud-based distributed systems with microservices
• 5 years full-stack software development
• 5 years Version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab)

Nice to Have:

• SQL database performance tuning and query optimization
• Background in bioinformatics, genomics, or related life sciences data
• Defining, debugging, and troubleshooting ETL / ELT pipelines and processes
• Defining and managing workflows in k8s-based orchestration engines (i.e. Kubeflow), * Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline. In lieu of a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience
• 5+ years of full-stack software development experience, including:
• Strong proficiency in modern Python (e.g. Flask, SQLAlchemy, boto3) and JavaScript/React
• Experience designing and developing cloud-based distributed systems with microservices
• Schema definitions and data modeling for SQL databases
• AWS development experience (S3, IAM, RDS, EC2, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, ECR, EKS)
• Version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab)
• Strong software documentation practices
• Proven ability to identify strategic implications of technical decisions and proactively advise the development team on potential downstream impacts.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in small to medium sized teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

All tuition reimbursement requests must be submitted to and approved by the team member’s Manager prior to course registration. Reimbursement will be issued upon successful course completion and submission of final grades and proof of payment.
