VMware Cloud Engineer

Join a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineering team developing a hybrid-first, enterprise-grade platform that unifies Enterprise Data Warehousing, AI, and analytics within a scalable Lakehouse architecture. Leverage your deep expertise in VMware and KVM virtualization to design, develop, and maintain on-premises infrastructure supporting complex enterprise workloads. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex infrastructure challenges and help shape a scalable, modular platform with flexible hybrid deployment capabilities., * Work within a team of skilled engineers to perform software engineering duties including problem analysis, code review, design, development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and support

• Conduct end-to-end testing to validate functionality, stability, and integration across the platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve test strategies and processes
• Detect early signals of at-risk features and applications within the platform
• Work with the DevOps team to build and develop test tools and automation
• Perform root cause analysis of customer-reported issues
• Contribute to product documentation and manuals

Infrastructure & Virtualization

• Design, implement, and maintain the on-premises platform infrastructure
• Evaluate, improve, and maintain information security throughout the virtualized infrastructure
• Drive virtualization best practices across customer enterprise environments
• Optimize network hardware and software to enable virtualization integration

Collaboration & Communication

• Coordinate cross-functional processes to deliver on customer needs
• Collaborate closely with teams outside of infrastructure engineering to address new features and applications

VMware, KVM, Harvester, vSphere, vSan, vMotion, vCenter, vRa, Nutanix, Openshift, RedHat, PowerCLI, Python, Go, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, AWS, Azure, GCP, PowerShell, JavaScript, * 7+ years of experience with a BS, 5+ with an MS, or 2+ with a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

• Expert knowledge of virtualization technology, including hypervisors and network virtualization
• Expert knowledge of KVM and Harvester
• Expert knowledge of vSphere, vSAN, vMotion, vCenter, and/or vRA
• Expert knowledge of VMware deployment best practices in enterprise environments
• Familiarity with VMware alternatives such as KVM/Nutanix and RedHat/OpenShift
• Experience automating VMware environments using PowerCLI, Python, or Go
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform to deploy VMware components
• Experience debugging issues within vSphere clusters, including tools such as pktcap-uw, esxtop, and esxcli
• Knowledge of L2 and L3 network protocols
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional certification
