AI Database Administrator / Engineer The Federal Police is developing a strategic vision for responsible artificial intelligence (AI) use, emphasizing innovation while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements such as the AI Act. The AI-Lab provides a secure, controlled experimental environment to develop, test, and validate AI applications before potential deployment within the organization. This environment enables exploration of new applications, accumulation of experience, risk management, and integration of governance, security, and compliance from the outset. The ultimate goal is to provide the Federal Police with safe, legal, and ethical access to AI to support operational and support staff tasks. As an AI Database Administrator/Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing database platforms that support both traditional applications and AI solutions, including generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and machine learning., * Design, manage, and optimize PostgreSQL database platforms supporting both traditional and AI applications.

• Install and configure database clusters.
• Monitor and analyze database performance.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
• Implement high availability solutions such as replication and fail-over.
• Optimize queries and indexes for performance.
• Monitor database performance continuously.
• Support AI data platforms and workloads involving large language models (LLM).
• Configure vector databases.
• Support architectures for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Translate business challenges into concrete technical solutions.
• Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrate a mindset of continuous improvement and a culture of feedback.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence.
• Experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL database platforms.
• Expertise in high availability solutions including replication, clustering, and fail-over.
• Proficiency with AI database technologies such as pgvector and vector database concepts.
• Strong skills in data engineering processes including ETL and ELT.
• Experience integrating systems via REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
• Demonstrated experience developing applications integrating AI components.
• Rigor, attention to detail, code quality, and awareness of AI performance factors such as latency and scalability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including data scientists, architects, and DevOps professionals.

• Fluency in French (mandatory). Preferred Qualifications

• Profiles from non-conventional backgrounds (career changers, self-taught, open source contributors) are welcome if they can demonstrate impact.
• Curiosity for emerging technologies and a strong interest in applied AI.
