• Transform raw, complex data into clear, reusable data models that empower business and technical teams.
• Design, build, and maintain data models in dbt on a modern cloud data platform, from staging to reporting layers.
• Identify and integrate new data sources, mapping structures and proactively surfacing new insights.
• Refactor, troubleshoot, and maintain existing codebases, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Optimize datasets for reporting and visualization, building semantic models and measures in Power BI.
• Translate business questions into concrete data transformations and models, driving real business outcomes.
• Monitor and ensure data quality through automated controls and rigorous documentation.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers and analysts, acting as the vital link between technical and business teams.
• Champion data governance, ensuring all models and processes are robust, transferable, and maintainable.

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, including at least 1 year with dbt.
• Expertise in SQL, with a proven ability to write scalable, maintainable transformations.
• Demonstrated experience independently building data models from source analysis to reporting layer.
• Strong analytical skills and a meticulous eye for detail.
• Proven ability to refactor, document, and test existing codebases for continuous improvement.
• Ability to translate business needs into actionable data models, asking the right questions to uncover true requirements.
• Self-starter who takes initiative, yet collaborates effectively on impactful technical decisions.
• Customer- and results-oriented mindset, with a passion for delivering value through data.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is highly valued.
• Demonstrable experience with project-based work and data warehouse modeling.
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, especially Power BI.
• Knowledge of Python, DevOps, or AWS is a plus.
• Experience as a Business Analyst or interest in AI is a bonus.

Technical Skills

• Data Modeling: dbt, data warehouse modeling, semantic layer design
• Programming: Advanced SQL (required), Python (plus)
• Data Visualization: Power BI (required), Cognos or Datastage (plus)
• Cloud Platforms: AWS (Athena preferred)
• ETL & Data Integration: Experience with ETL, BI, databases, and metadata management
• Agile/Scrum: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

Language Proficiency

• Dutch language proficiency at European CEFR level C2 (required)

• Freelance position: Full-time contract via intermediary for 1 year, with possible extensions (up to 3 renewals)
• All-in rates: All costs (management, admin, travel, parking) included, exclusive of VAT
• Insurance: Must hold all legally required insurances (occupational accidents, professional and third-party liability) for the duration of the contract
• Non-solicitation: Client will not induce staff to leave subcontractor during and up to 12 months post-contract
• Contract termination: Ends automatically at project end date or max performance days; 1-month written notice required for early termination
