Senior Backend AI Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend AI Engineer to join a technical team building production-grade software with AI capabilities.

This is primarily a backend engineering role, rather than a pure AI/ML position. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering reliable Python services while integrating modern LLM capabilities where appropriate.

You’ll have a high level of technical ownership and will be comfortable reviewing code, making engineering decisions and taking features through to production.

• Strong commercial Python engineering experience
• FastAPI and asynchronous Python
• Experience building and supporting production APIs/services
• Strong approach to testing, typed code and maintainability
• Experience owning code quality and conducting senior-level code reviews
• AWS or similar cloud experience
• Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
• Comfortable with Docker and modern deployment practices
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools within engineering workflows

You’ll ideally have practical experience integrating LLMs into production applications, including some of:

• RAG
• LLM orchestration / agentic workflows
• Structured outputs
• LLM evaluation and testing
• Production AI integrations

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

• Kubernetes
• PostgreSQL
• Security-conscious or regulated environments
• Deploying software into complex customer environments
• React / TypeScript
• Working with sensitive data

We’re looking for someone who is fundamentally a strong senior backend engineer and has subsequently developed meaningful experience building with modern AI/LLM technologies.
