HII: Mission Technoolgies is seeking is seeking a qualified, proactive, and customer-focused System Administrator for The U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) in Warren, MI. The System Administrator will install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux-based systems used across mission operations. The ideal candidate has experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other enterprise Linux distributions, ensuring stable operations, system availability, user support, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements. Responsibilities include system monitoring, updates and patching, account management, documentation, and resolving system and network issues. The role also supports accreditation and hardening requirements under the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).

This role requires on-site work in Warren, MI and cannot be performed remotely.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems
• Apply system updates, patches, and security configurations
• Monitor system performance and take corrective actions
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
• Maintain system documentation and configuration records
• Perform account management and access control tasks
• Support RMF compliance and system hardening requirements
• Assist users with system access and operational issues
• Ensure reliability and availability of mission-critical systems
• Coordinate with cybersecurity teams on remediation and monitoring activities

• 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
• Experience administering Linux systems in production or enterprise environments Strong command-line Linux administration skills
• Hands-on experience with enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu, Debian)
• Experience troubleshooting system, network, and service issues
• Experience with systemd, storage and file systems, networking configuration, package management, SSH, and secure remote administration
• Ability to meet DoD Linux administrator certification requirements
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

Preferred Requirements

• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Strong root-cause troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Effective teamwork and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with Bash or Python scripting
• Understanding of Git workflows is a plus but not required
• Basic experience with cloud environments (AWS) or Kubernetes is optional but beneficial

Physical Requirements

• Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
