Senior Software Engineer I

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to define requirements and drive product development from conception to launch
• Build and improve full-stack experiences for Talent Matching, Talent Rediscovery, and related talent discovery workflows
• Design and ship search-backed capabilities using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing strategies, query design, relevance tuning, ranking improvements, and semantic retrieval patterns
• Develop matching systems that combine keyword, structured, and semantic signals, applying AI/ML techniques such as embeddings, similarity search, classification, and ranking to improve match quality and consistency
• Partner with Applied ML and cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate trade-offs across relevance, latency, reliability, infrastructure cost, and user trust
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and contribute to team engineering practices

• 5+ years of experience writing production code
• Deep experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch in production, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance trade-offs
• Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails preferred
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React
• Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend development
• Experience building search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems
• Practical experience applying AI or ML techniques in production, such as embeddings, semantic search, classification, or ranking
• Experience collaborating with Product and Design in ambiguous, user-facing problem spaces
• Experience with analytical databases, a plus

__The national pay range for this role is $117,500 - $164,500 CAD. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including stock option awards, bonuses, and merit increases. Additionally, certain roles have the opportunity to receive sales commissions that are based on the terms of the sales commission plan applicable to the role.
