Job description

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect Cloud & Technology Governance to provide strategic and hands-on technical leadership across enterprise architecture, cloud modernization, technology governance, and procurement. This senior-level Cloud Architect will help establish architecture standards, reduce technical debt, and guide secure, scalable Azure and hybrid-cloud solutions. Senior Enterprise Architect Responsibilities

Define and maintain enterprise architecture standards across application, data, infrastructure, integration, cloud, and AI technologies.
Design secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-optimized Azure solutions and cloud landing zones.
Lead hybrid and multi-cloud strategies spanning Azure, AWS, GCP, and on-premises environments.
Chair the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and oversee technology procurement for architecture, security, and operational alignment.
Establish technical debt inventories and prioritize remediation based on risk, cost, and strategic value.
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Azure ARM, or Pulumi and support CI/CD automation.
Apply Zero Trust, IAM/RBAC, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, and FinOps practices.
Support application portfolio rationalization, ServiceNow APM/CMDB governance, and enterprise architecture KPIs.

Requirements

7 9 years of Azure Cloud Platform experience.
4 6 years of hybrid on-premises/cloud architecture and cloud networking experience.
3+ years of Architecture Review Board or enterprise governance leadership.
Strong experience with cloud security, enterprise architecture standards, technical procurement, IaC, automation, and cloud cost optimization.
Hands-on knowledge of Terraform, Azure ARM/Pulumi, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins, and Ansible/Chef/Puppet.

Senior Enterprise Architect Preferred Qualifications

1 2 years of GCP, AWS, or OCI experience.
Experience with Cloud FinOps, Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow APM, and CMDB.
Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
TOGAF and ITIL certifications; AWS/GCP Architect certifications are a plus.

The Senior Enterprise Architect Cloud & Technology Governance will play a key role in shaping MTA’s enterprise technology strategy while enabling secure cloud modernization and effective architecture governance.
