Librarian I (Web Services)

The Librarian I (Web Services) is responsible for designing and maintaining library web sites and web-based applications, with a focus on content and user interface accessibility and usability. They assist other library staff with creating accessible online content, including instruction and marketing materials. They work with the Director of Automated Systems, Systems Manager, and other Systems staff to evaluate and enhance the library online catalog and other discovery interfaces.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Develops and maintains accessible public and staff websites using local files and scripts and 3rd party content management systems.
2. Trains and assists library staff with development and maintenance of web content. Consults with staff on special projects as requested.
3. Works with Library Special Collections to develop web exhibits, and works with Library Systems and TCU IT staff to develop and enhance user interfaces for specialized web applications.
4. Reviews content on library public and staff web sites for currency; consults with staff and revises content as needed.
5. Evaluates library online interfaces for usability and WCAG accessibility standards compliance.
6. Uses analytics reports and other tools to evaluate and report on web site usage.
7. Monitors developments in the field by participating in professional organizations and training opportunities; keeps other library staff informed of important technology issues; suggests enhancements to other library services as appropriate.

Performs other related duties as assigned., u2022 Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours. \u2022 There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job. \u2022 The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. \u2022 This role is an on campus, in-person position.

u2022 Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS (Management Information Systems), or a closely related field, or an ALA-accredited Master’s in Library Science, and 0-1 year of related experience OR \u2022 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS (Management Information Systems), or a closely related field, and 4-5 years of related experience

\u2022 Experience in a library environment \u2022 Experience supporting technology in a higher education environment. \u2022 Experience with open-source software development and troubleshooting. \u2022 Experience using web user interface frameworks such as Bootstrap. \u2022 Experience using SQL and relational databases. \u2022 Experience managing and configuring Windows IIS web servers., u2022 Experience in a library environment \u2022 Experience supporting technology in a higher education environment. \u2022 Experience with open-source software development and troubleshooting. \u2022 Experience using web user interface frameworks such as Bootstrap. \u2022 Experience using SQL and relational databases. \u2022 Experience managing and configuring Windows IIS web servers.
