Design Engineer

ASME standards * Creating Bills of Materials (BoMs) and performing calculations to verify designs * Checking engineering drawings and design solutions produced by others * Liaising with manufacturers to ensure parts are made cost-effectively * Preparing presentation material for design reviews with customers and internal project managers * Liaising directly with customers to resolve design issues, on or off site * Conducting DFMEA sessions * Supporting the Project Manager with time and resource estimating and allocation * Guiding and advising junior members of the design team as part of day-to-day work What’s in it for you? mentoring element working alongside graduates and placement students * Occasional travel to workshops and customer sites, including production and test facilities Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate: * A degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience) * Around 5-10 years of relevant design experience * Gas turbine experience is essential; aerospace exposure and familiarity with Rolls-Royce processes are strongly preferred * Experience of gas turbine instrumentation design would be beneficial but is not essential * Strong CAD ability, ideally in NX or Solidworks * A sound understanding of mechanical design principles and analysis techniques * Experience of a PLM system such as Windchill is beneficial * Confidence checking the work of others and, where needed, acting as team leader for a small group of designers * Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer and internal stakeholder interaction * A full UK driving licence and passport, as the role may involve occasional UK and overseas travel If you are interested in the opportunity of Senior Design Engineer and believe you meet the criteria above, apply today to join our client’s growing team in the East Midlands.
