Test Analyst

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test Analyst to join the ICT Test Team, supporting testing activities for applications and systems being implemented or upgraded, in line with the defined test strategy and approach., In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality testing across a range of clinical applications and systems, ensuring they are safe, effective, and ready for use within a healthcare environment.

You will work closely with experienced testers, project, configuration, development and transformation teams to understand requirements, contribute to test scripts, and execute testing activities in line with agreed plans and schedules.

A key part of the role will involve accurately recording test results, identifying issues, and logging defects with clear and detailed information. You will also support user acceptance testing (UAT) by working with clinical and operational staff to ensure systems meet real-world needs., The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required.

Previous software testing experience is essential. Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical experience of testing activities such as test execution, defect management, UAT, system validation, quality assurance, test case creation, or supporting software releases.

Experience of working with Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems, particularly Oracle Cerner applications such as PMOffice, PowerChart and FirstNet, is desirable. An understanding of how clinical systems are used in practice and the impact system changes can have on patient care would be advantageous.

A strong interest in software quality assurance and a “tester mindset” is essential, including curiosity, analytical thinking, attention to detail and the ability to identify, investigate and challenge issues.

You should have a working knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies. An ISTQB Foundation Certification, or willingness to work towards it, is desirable. Awareness of HL7 messaging would be an advantage., This role is well suited to someone with a good understanding of Cerner EPR systems (or a similar healthcare system), a strong attention to detail, and a natural curiosity for how systems work. You should be organised, proactive, and able to manage your own workload, while also working collaboratively as part of a team. A keen interest in developing testing skills and delivering quality outcomes is essential., * Graduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science, coupled with 1 to 2 years practical experience working in a software testing environment., * xperience of working in NHS or a healthcare company on healthcare systems.

• Experience of working with Cerner applications like Cerner OCS, Cerner PAS, Firstnet and Surginet
• Experience of creating Test Specs and Test Scripts.
• Experience of writing formal Test Reports.
• Experience of logging and retesting defects in a defect management system.

• Experience of working in fast changing technology environment, with demonstrable experience of adapting to change and learning new technologies quickly.
• Evidence of working as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals., * Good understanding of various test methodologies and processes (E.g., Agile, V, Waterfall etc)
• Sound understanding of IT project lifecycle.
• Good investigation and audit skills to accurately identify the root cause of apparent testing issues
• Strong analytical capability to assimilate and interpret complex requirements from a variety of sources.
• Work with Trust users and third party suppliers to ensure the product meets agreed requirements.
• Able to apply prolonged periods of concentration to aid developers in problem solving., * Experience of working with open source test tools.
• Working knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking issues
