Smart Mobility Hub - Tolling Technology Principal Director

A tolling technology leader with deep expertise in electronic toll collection, back-office and roadside systems, multi-lane free-flow (MLFF) technology, interoperability frameworks, and large-scale tolling modernization. You understand how to help agencies and infrastructure operators deploy, integrate, and evolve complex tolling technology platforms while balancing operational performance, financial objectives, customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity considerations. You have led significant technology portfolios, built executive relationships with agencies and vendors, developed market growth strategies, and created high-performing delivery organizations. You are a trusted advisor who can shape complex technology opportunities, mobilize multidisciplinary engineering and consulting teams, and translate tolling industry challenges into practical, scalable solutions. You combine deep technical credibility, commercial acumen, and delivery discipline with a passion for advancing safer, more efficient, and revenue-optimized tolling operations.

The Work:

• Lead the growth and expansion of Accenture’s Smart Mobility Hub tolling technology portfolio across North America, with a focus on back-office modernization, roadside systems, and interoperability platforms.
• Develop and maintain executive relationships with tolling agencies, transportation authorities, state departments of transportation, concessionaires, and infrastructure operators.
• Originate, qualify, shape, and support closure of strategic tolling technology opportunities, including back-office platform replacements, MLFF deployments, interoperability integrations, and end-to-end system modernizations.
• Serve as an executive sponsor and delivery advisor for complex modernization programs, providing oversight of outcomes, governance, financial performance, risk, and client satisfaction.
• Lead and grow Accenture’s customer service operations technology practice within the tolling portfolio, encompassing contact center platforms, CRM systems, self-service digital channels, workforce management tools, omnichannel customer engagement, and AI-powered service automation for tolling agencies and operators.
• Shape technology offerings across tolling back-office modernization (CSC, violations, collections), roadside and MLFF systems, electronic payment and account management platforms, customer service operations technology, interoperability hubs, revenue assurance, cybersecurity, data analytics, and AI/ML enablement for tolling operations.
• Build reusable Smart Mobility Hub technology assets, reference architectures, delivery methods, accelerators, tolling platform solution narratives, and industry credentials to accelerate client pursuits.
• Collaborate across Strategy & Consulting, Technology, Operations, Industry X, Song, and ecosystem partners to create integrated client solutions.
• Lead industry thought leadership through client forums, conferences, associations, publications, and executive roundtables.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop tolling technology practitioners - including systems architects, integration engineers, and platform specialists - while strengthening succession planning and technical industry capability.
• Bring disciplined portfolio management, forecasting, and operational governance to pursuits and delivery programs.

Travel may be required for this role. The amount of travel will vary from 0 to 100% depending on business need and client requirement

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in tolling technology, electronic toll collection, transportation systems integration, back-office platforms, roadside technology, or a closely related infrastructure technology field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience leading large-scale tolling technology modernization programs, systems integration delivery organizations, technology consulting engagements, or complex multi-vendor implementation programs.
• Demonstrated experience managing executive client relationships and engaging with C-suite, agency, authority, or senior public-sector leaders.
• Demonstrated experience shaping business opportunities, strategic pursuits, proposals, or market growth initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years’ work experience). If Associate’s Degree, must have equivalent minimum 6-year work experience

Bonus Points If:

• You have leadership of major transportation technology portfolios or multi-program delivery organizations with P&L, forecasting, margin, or cash-flow accountability.
• You have hands-on experience with electronic toll collection technology, commercial or operational back-office systems, MLFF/AET roadside deployments, transponder and license plate recognition systems, interoperability protocols (e.g., E-ZPass, ETAN), violations processing, collections workflow, or revenue assurance platforms.
• You have experience with public-private partnerships, concessions, design-build, or multidisciplinary system integration programs.
• You have experience applying AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, computer vision, cloud-native architectures, or enterprise platforms to improve tolling technology delivery, revenue optimization, or operational performance.
• You have experience leading PMO transformation, ERP adoption, enterprise governance, organizational change, or workforce development.
• You have active participation or leadership in IBTTA, ITS America, AASHTO, or related transportation industry organizations.
• You have advanced degree or relevant certifications such as PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent.
