Data Center - Systems Engineer - Mid

We provide full-lifecycle data center and cloud engineering, 24x7x365 operations and monitoring, DCIM platform administration, analytics, and facility infrastructure reporting. If you want your engineering, operations, or analytics work to matter to someone, this is where it does., * Configure, administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain data center compute and systems infrastructure - physical and virtual servers, storage, and supporting services.

• Rack, cable, and decommission IT equipment in accordance with airflow, containment, and asset-disposal standards.
• Triage and resolve tickets in ServiceNow within response and resolution SLAs; escalate cleanly when required.
• Update the CMDB and DCIM records to reflect physical and logical reality.
• Support planned changes, patch cycles, and after-hours cutovers.

• Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust - High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
• Bachelor’s in a technical field; 2+ years of enterprise data center systems administration experience.
• Education substitutions (per Peraton Career & Compensation Framework): Master’s degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years of required experience. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable (Associate’s degree + 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels).
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, VMware, structured cabling (CAT6, fiber), and rack/stack work.
• Shiftwork may be required

Desired Skills, Tools & Certifications

• Tools: Data center monitoring and management tools including Nlyte Asset Optimizer / Energy Optimizer (DCIM), ServiceNow (ITSM/CMDB), SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, PuTTY, Wireshark, PowerShell, Python, Power BI, MS Visio, and SharePoint. plus VMware vSphere.
• Processes: ITIL v4 service management, SAFe Agile / Scrum for iterative delivery, NIST 800-53 / RMF, ISO 27001, TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9, VA CRISP alignment, NFPA 70/70E, and OSHA safety practices.; TIA-942; VA Handbook 7002.
• Certifications (desirable): CompTIA Server+ / Network+ / Security+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Administrator, Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE, VMware VCP-DCV, ServiceNow CSA, Nlyte Certified Administrator, CDCP., ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus), SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps.

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
