Mainframe Systems Programmer/Engineer

IBM z/OS Operations Leadership Management Detail Oriented Problem Solving Customer Support IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Business Valuation Mainframe Computing IBM Parallel Sysplex Programming Languages Full Stack Development Operational Efficiency Business Transformation Job Control Language (JCL) Rexx (Programming Language) COBOL (Programming Language) Troubleshooting (Problem Solving) Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer/Engineer to support and maintain core mainframe infrastructure in a z/OS Sysplex environment. This role is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, documentation, monitoring, and support of mainframe software and components, as well as support for the BMC Control-D output management platform., * Provide primary support coverage during U.S. business hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Central Time).

• Participate in an on-call rotation, including after-hours and weekend support.
• Perform daily monitoring and support of mainframe systems and software to ensure overall platform health and stability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and software issues through root cause analysis.
• Support and maintain the BMC Control-D output management environment, including report definitions, mission and decollation processes, and web-based access tools.
• Work with software vendors to troubleshoot issues, gather diagnostics, and implement fixes.
• Monitor key system metrics and proactively identify performance, stability, and optimization opportunities.
• Review system and software information regularly to identify potential defects, maintenance needs, and preventative actions.
• Respond to customer support requests and operational incidents.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and related preparedness activities.
• Support infrastructure and business-driven projects.
• Install, configure, and maintain third-party mainframe software and software fixes.
• Design and adapt platform solutions to meet business and operational requirements.

• Moderate knowledge of IBM z/OS and mainframe architecture.
• Experience supporting enterprise mainframe environments.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure concepts and system operations.
• Working knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Assembler, COBOL, REXX, or SAS.
• Experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF.
• Knowledge of BMC Control-D output management systems and related components.
• Experience following structured testing and implementation procedures.
• Understanding of disaster recovery concepts and processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
