Cyber Security Engineer

We are looking for a hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer to join our IT team in Merelbeke. This is a broad, practical security role working closely with the CIO, infrastructure and support teams to strengthen our security posture and support the ongoing implementation of NIS2 requirements., You will help secure our IT environment across infrastructure, cloud, identity, endpoints and networks, while supporting security operations and incident response., * Supporting the implementation of NIS2 and cybersecurity initiatives

• Monitoring security events, analysing logs and investigating incidents
• Supporting incident response, remediation and vulnerability management
• Conducting security reviews of new systems, software and infrastructure
• Advising IT teams on secure configurations and best practices
• Supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID, cloud and endpoint security
• Contributing to security policies, procedures and security awareness
• Keeping up to date with emerging threats and vulnerabilities
• Working closely with the CIO and wider IT team as a trusted security partner

You will have a solid IT infrastructure or systems administration background, combined with practical cybersecurity experience., * Networking: firewalls, routing, VLANs, subnetting and segmentation

• IAM, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID
• Endpoint, email and cloud security
• EDR/XDR and security monitoring
• Incident investigation and security triage
• Understanding of Zero Trust and Least Privilege
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIS2, ISO 27001 or CIS Controls

Experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, SD-WAN, VMware/Hyper-V, Cisco ISE, SOC operations, threat hunting or vulnerability management would be an advantage, but deep expertise in every technology is not required.
