Software Developer - Java Backend

In this role, you’ll work on the core product capabilities behind Miles, building scalable backend services that are used across customers and markets. You’ll work closely with other engineers, architects and product stakeholders to turn complex business domains into robust, reusable software solutions., * Translate complex business domains into well-designed, maintainable software solutions using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles;

• Build reusable product capabilities that can serve different customers, markets and use cases;
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrations between services, internal platforms and other parts of the Miles ecosystem;
• Take ownership of what you build throughout its lifecycle - from technical design and development to testing, deployment and continuous improvement;
• Build scalable, cloud-native solutions using modern engineering and DevOps practices such as CI/CD, containerization and automated testing;
• Collaborate with fellow engineers through technical discussions, code reviews and knowledge sharing;
• Apply a security-first mindset when designing and implementing features within our Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC);
• Contribute to technical improvements and architectural decisions that help us continuously evolve the Miles platform.

• 2+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with hands-on experience using Java;
• Experience with modern Java, preferably Java 17 or Java 21;
• Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services;
• Familiarity with microservice-based architectures and modern backend development practices;
• A good understanding of clean, maintainable software design;
• Good knowledge of SQL, preferably PostgreSQL;
• Familiarity with development and DevOps tools and practices such as Git, Maven, Jenkins or GitHub Actions;
• A product mindset: you enjoy building software that is reusable, maintainable and designed to evolve over time;
• Fluent communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively within an international engineering environment.
