Radar Systems Engineer

The Advanced Airborne RF Sensors department within the Space and Airborne Systems Engineering and Test Capability (SE&TC) Center has an opportunity for a Radar Systems Engineer. The Radar Systems Engineer will join our Advanced Development product line to provide radar algorithm/signal processing mode development to support distributed aperture radar programs. Mode development includes working on multi-function radar capabilities such as Airborne Moving Target Indicator (AMTI), Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI), maritime surveillance, sense and avoid, weather detection, terrain detection/avoidance, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and communications. This position is an onsite role located in Plano, Texas

What You Will Do:

• Perform radar and communications mode design, conduct design and development of radar and communication waveforms as well as support signal processing and waveform analyses

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (e.g., Software, Hardware, Firmware) and Program Management to support project planning and execution.

• Develop mathematical algorithms for radar signal processing, make performance predictions and analyze data received from the Radar to evaluate algorithm performance.

• Manage tasks, requirements and commitments and interface with numerous disciplines

• Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders

• Support program and engineering activities, including occasional travel, which is anticipated to remain below 20%.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, * Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience to include radar systems, software engineering, radar signal processing techniques, mathematical / radar mode algorithm development, analytic techniques and digital simulation models (DSM)

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

• An active and in-scope DOD Secret US security clearance is desired.
• MATLAB and C or C++ (coding experience is required to implement algorithms into the program’s system simulation).
• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
• Mathcad, Python, or related languages and tools
• TF Navigation concepts and algorithms
• Radar mode development skills including maritime surveillance, MTI, air-to-air, sense and avoid, weather detection, and terrain detection / terrain avoidance
• Digital communications
• Strapdown inertial navigation and transfer alignment
• Target discriminators and feature extraction / exploitation
• Machine-learning experience

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
