Lead Android Engineer

As a Lead Android Engineer, you’ll help shape high-performance mobile applications within a next-generation decentralized cloud and AI environment. You’ll take ownership of Android architecture, technical direction, performance, security, and the complete mobile delivery lifecycle. Working primarily with Kotlin and modern Android technologies, you’ll build scalable experiences that interact with distributed backend systems. You’ll collaborate closely with backend, infrastructure, and product teams to solve complex technical challenges. The role offers significant autonomy and requires strong architectural judgment, engineering ownership, and attention to quality. You’ll also mentor engineers and help establish standards across Android development, CI/CD, testing, and releases. • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and the Android SDK.
• Define scalable, maintainable mobile architectures with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and long-term technical quality.
• Build intuitive, responsive user interfaces aligned with modern Android design principles.
• Integrate mobile applications with RESTful backend services and distributed systems.
• Implement efficient data synchronization, offline capabilities, caching strategies, and resilient network communication.
• Optimize applications for memory usage, responsiveness, battery efficiency, and overall runtime performance.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, automated testing, debugging, documentation, and maintainability.
• Own the complete mobile application lifecycle, from development and testing through CI/CD and Google Play Store deployment.
• Collaborate with backend, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure seamless integration between mobile experiences and distributed platform services.
• Apply mobile security best practices, including secure data handling, authentication, encryption, and secure storage.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, planning, technical discussions, and delivery activities.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor other engineers, and contribute to improving engineering practices and standards.
• Drive best practices across Android architecture, development workflows, CI/CD, and release management.

• 5-6+ years of professional experience as a Senior or Lead Android Engineer, with the technical maturity to operate at a Staff-level mindset.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and the Android SDK, with a track record of delivering robust, production-grade applications.
• Deep understanding of modern Android architecture patterns, including MVVM and Clean Architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Android lifecycle management and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience integrating RESTful APIs and building asynchronous applications using Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• Experience with local data persistence and caching technologies such as Room and SQLite.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks, debugging tools, and practices for maintaining reliable mobile applications.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and influence engineering direction.
• High degree of autonomy, ownership, and architectural judgment.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI development is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and mobile application release processes is advantageous.
• Knowledge of mobile security practices, including secure storage, encryption, and authentication, is valuable.
• Understanding of distributed systems or cloud platforms is beneficial.
• Experience working in deep-tech, infrastructure, or performance-critical environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with observability, mobile analytics, and application monitoring tools is advantageous.
• Fluent English is required.
