Python Finance Developer (100% Remote Worldwide)

We are looking for a Finance Developer to join our team and help build an internal web platform that supports portfolio management for our finance and operations teams. Working at the intersection of

finance and technology, you will turn financial data and business requirements into accurate, reliable tools. You will own features from end to end, from data queries and calculation logic through to the user interface.

What you’ll do

• Design, build and maintain platform features, including summary metrics, interactive tables and data visualisations.
• Translate financial methodologies such as valuation, P&L attribution, exposure and cost basis into clean, well-tested backend logic.
• Make sure every figure reconciles accurately against source systems and existing reporting.
• Write and optimise SQL queries against our cloud data warehouse.
• Keep the platform fast and reliable through caching, performance tuning and robust error handling.
• Work closely with finance and operations stakeholders to gather requirements, validate results and deliver improvements.

• Backend: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, Google BigQuery, Redis
• Frontend: React, TypeScript, Vite, TanStack Query, Recharts, Tailwind CSS
• Infrastructure: Google Cloud (Cloud Run), Google sign-in

• Solid professional experience with Python, including building backend services or data applications.
• A good understanding of financial concepts: positions, P&L (daily, MTD, YTD, ITD), NAV, exposure and cost basis.
• Comfort writing non-trivial SQL, ideally on BigQuery or another cloud warehouse.
• A strong eye for detail and a habit of testing and reconciling numbers until they’re right.
• Clear communication, and the confidence to challenge and clarify requirements with finance teams.
• A MSc in Finance, or progress towards a professional qualification such as CFA or CAIA (Level I or above), or equivalent.

Advantageous

• Front-end experience with React and TypeScript, especially data-heavy UIs.
• Experience with BI and reporting tools, or building analytics dashboards.
• A background in asset management, fund administration, treasury or fintech.
• Familiarity with multi-asset portfolios, e.g. equities, fixed income, digital assets and commodities.
• Experience with Google Cloud and caching strategies.
