Kubernetes Administrator

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters across a hybrid, Bare Metal, on-premises environment
• Oversee cluster operations including node lifecycle management, control plane maintenance, networking, storage integrations, and workload orchestration
• Implement and manage core Kubernetes components and extensions such as logging, alerting, operators, CNI plugins, CSI storage drivers, and RBAC policies
• Develop and implement container deployment standards, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices
• Work closely with developers to containerize applications and create predictable, automated, scalable deployment paths
• Perform Kubernetes upgrades, patching, configuration adjustments, resilience validation, and performance tuning
• Establish and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for cluster health and application performance
• Implement high availability, backup/restore strategies, and disaster recovery solutions
• Manage certificates, TLS enforcement, pod-level security controls, and compliance requirements across all deployments
• Troubleshoot cluster-level and application-level issues including networking, scheduling, storage, and resource utilization
• Ensure security procedures, audit controls, and configuration baselines are implemented and consistently enforced
• Support on-site operational tasks such as racking devices, cabling, hardware provisioning, and cluster node installation (lift up to 40 lbs)

Our Connected Aviation (CA) Networks and Messaging Services support over 1,500 aviation customers, transmitting over 75 million messages per day across the Aviation community. We are currently seeking a senior-level Kubernetes Administrator to join the Messaging Application Engineering team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a team player with a broad, ambitious technical background in container orchestration and cloud-native platforms. This person must be an articulate problem solver who is passionate about standardization, resilient system design, and modern DevOps methodologies in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment., * Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or an Advanced Degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or in absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience

• Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters in production environments
• Strong proficiency with Linux CLI, debugging tools, container runtimes, namespaces, and the networking stack
• Working knowledge of core networking principles including routing, firewalls, subnetting, and load balancing
• Experience with multiple Linux distributions such as RHEL and Ubuntu
• Ability to create shell scripts and automation utilities for cluster operations
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, containerized workloads, and connectivity issues
• Ability to work independently in an international, cross-functional team environment, including occasional off-hours work
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, competing deadlines, and high-priority operational demands
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Ability to support a hybrid (primarily onsite) schedule at Annapolis Office, * Experience with Docker, Kubernetes Operators, Helm, Kustomize, and tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Experience with distributed storage appliances (TrueNAS, FreeNAS) including NAS and iSCSI integrations with Kubernetes
• Experience with Git or other Configuration Management Systems
• Experience working in air-gapped environments
• Ability to support a 24x7 rotating on-call schedule
• Occasional travel as needed, less than 20 days per year
