Network Engineer_P2

Our client is seeking a Network Engineer II to join their Network Operations team supporting mission-critical infrastructure across approximately 100 locations. This individual will provide support for enterprise networking, wireless infrastructure, Cisco telephony systems, firewall technologies, and WAN connectivity., As a Network Engineer II, you will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and optimization of complex network solutions to meet the business needs of the organization. This position independently handles complex network engineering work, projects, integrations, incidents, and infrastructure changes. The Network Engineer_P2 is expected to make sound technical decisions, remove roadblocks, and drive assigned work through completion.

You will collaborate closely with other IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure that the network infrastructure meets the evolving needs of the organization. As a part of a 4-8 person network team, the Network Engineer_P2 will be responsible for all lifecycle phases (Acquisition to Retirement) of network solutions and components across the organization. The role involves fieldwork at facility locations.

Responsibilities:

Lead troubleshooting of complex network issues and provide timely resolution.

Conducting routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades, patch installations, and hardware replacements, to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of network devices.

Monitoring network performance and health using advanced network monitoring tools, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing optimizations to enhance network efficiency and reliability.

Developing and maintaining network documentation, including network diagrams, inventory, configuration files, and standard operating procedures.

Implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and access controls.

Conducting network performance analysis and capacity planning to anticipate and address future scalability and performance requirements.

Evaluate emerging network technologies and vendors to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, while staying current with industry trends.

Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior network engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.

Leading the design and architecture of enterprise-level network solutions, including LANs, WANs, data center networks, and cloud environments.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the integration and delivery of network solutions across the IT environment.

Leading network-related projects, from initial concept and design through implementation, testing, and deployment.

Developing and enforcing network engineering standards, best practices, and policies to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the network infrastructure.

Collaborating with business stakeholders, IT leaders, and solution architects to understand business requirements and translate them into technical network designs and solutions.

Conducting network assessments and audits to identify areas for optimization, consolidation, and cost reduction.

Participating in vendor selection, contract negotiations, and vendor management activities to ensure alignment with architectural standards and strategic goals.

Lead the configuration, operation, and management of VoIP and Unified Communications systems, ensuring effective integration with network infrastructure and business requirements.

Lead the deployment, configuration, operation, and management of enterprise-grade wireless networks, including multi-site and high-density environments.

Support the deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of SD-WAN edge devices and controllers.

Use scripting, APIs, automation, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code where appropriate.

Responsible for taking 24x7 on-call duty, in a rotating basis, with a 30-minute onsite response to the work location.

4-7 years of experience in network engineering roles, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities and leadership.

Strong knowledge of enterprise routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, VRF, QoS, Redundancy, High availability, Link aggregation, Traffic engineering.

Extensive experience with network hardware and software platforms from vendors such as Cisco, CheckPoint, Fortinet, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, and F5.

Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to analyzing and resolving complex network issues in a timely manner.

Excellent organizational, leadership, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Juniper JNCIP-ENT, or comparable professional certification.

Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewall policies, VPNs, and encryption protocols.

Strong understanding of SDN, SD-WAN, network virtualization, and cloud networking concepts and technologies.

Experience in designing and implementing complex network architectures, including multi-site deployments and high-availability solutions.

Proven ability to lead and manage network projects, including vendor selection, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Experience with IP telephony, unified communications, and QoS.

Experience with enterprise wireless technologies and protocols.

Working knowledge of scripting, APIs, automation, or configuration-management tools.

Demonstrated cultural competence to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of diverse identities, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds is required.

Demonstrate a strong learning orientation and ability to understand diverse customer needs, deliver high-quality services, and exceed customer expectations.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
