Front-End Web Developer

This is a fully remote position. However candidates that reside within a 50-mile radius of Jesup, Georgia, or within a 50-mile radius of the Circleville/Columbus, Ohio area will be given preference.

**Occasional travel may be required for training, meetings, and other business-related activities.

Our mission is to enhance the commissary experience through reliable technology solutions that ensure accuracy, compliance, and seamless service delivery., We are seeking a Front-End Web Developer to help maintain, modernize, and expand our web-based applications and internal systems., * Develop and maintain user-facing web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and established web standards.

• Improve the usability, consistency, responsiveness, and maintainability of existing web applications.
• Ensure applications work reliably across modern browsers and devices.
• Apply appropriate standards for accessibility, semantic HTML, browser security, and modern web development.
• Work with server-rendered applications and integrate front-end functionality with backend APIs and application logic.
• Troubleshoot issues across the browser, application, web server, and operating-system layers.
• Assist with maintenance and development of existing Ruby on Rails applications.
• Work with relational databases and understand basic SQL concepts.
• Perform development and troubleshooting tasks in Linux environments.
• Use Git for source control and participate in code review and deployment workflows.
• Help identify and resolve application bugs, performance problems, and compatibility issues.
• Assist with testing application changes prior to deployment.
• Document technical changes, procedures, and application behavior when appropriate.
• Gradually take on broader responsibilities involving application servers, deployment, monitoring, and supporting infrastructure.

This position will primarily focus on front-end web development, browser standards, usability, and integration with existing server-side applications. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable working in a Linux environment and interested in developing broader full-stack and systems knowledge over time., * Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Strong understanding of web standards and browser behavior.
• Ability to build responsive, maintainable web interfaces.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools and front-end debugging.
• Understanding of HTTP, HTTPS, requests/responses, cookies, sessions, and web APIs.
• Comfortable working from a Linux command line.
• Familiarity with Git or another source-control system.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically.
• Ability and willingness to learn an existing application and technology stack.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial, but is not required:

• MariaDB or MySQL.
• Apache HTTP Server, Nginx, Puma, or similar web/application servers.
• REST APIs and JSON.
• Linux server administration.
• Docker or Times container technologies.
• Web application security concepts such as Content Security Policy, secure cookies, TLS, authentication, and common web vulnerabilities.
• Accessibility standards such as WCAG.
• Automated testing.
• Production application troubleshooting and log analysis

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
• Ability to operate standard office and computer equipment.
• Occasional lifting and handling of computer hardware and testing devices weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
