Java Software Engineer - Mid-Level

Our client seeks a mid-level Java Software Engineer to develop and maintain scalable Java applications in an automated DevSecOps AWS environment supporting the Department of Commerce. You will build cloud-native services, implement CI/CD pipelines with integrated testing and security scans, and ensure solutions meet reliability, performance, and security standards. You will collaborate within Agile teams, support infrastructure automation, and monitor system health with effective observability., * Design, code, and test scalable and reliable software using Java technologies and frameworks.

• Develop high quality AWS cloud-native solutions.
• Design and implement database and data storage solutions.
• Maintain automated CI/CD pipelines integrated with automated testing, code quality, and security scans.
• Implement automation and orchestration scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure provisioning.
• Ensure code, cloud platform, and infrastructure are configured for scalability, performance, resiliency, reliability, and security.
• Develop scripts for automation of routine tasks.
• Configure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
• Monitor system health, investigate incidents and outages, and perform root cause analysis and resolution.

• Active Public Trust or similar DoD clearance.
• AWS Certified Developer Associate or higher. DevSecOps certification desired.
• In-depth experience with Java, J2EE, OpenJDK, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, RESTful services, JAX, XML, Python, SOA, microservices, Rocky Linux, or Amazon Linux.
• Experience building solutions with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, ELB, ALB, and Aurora RDS.
• Experience with database technologies and SQL queries, including Aurora MySQL and Aurora Postgres.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps tools: GitLab, GitLab Pipelines, GitLab Runner, SonarQube, Apache Maven, Tenable, NPM, and Nexus Lifecycle.
• Experience with containerization and IaC tools: Docker, Fargate, Terraform, OpenTofu, and Ansible.
• Experience with Okta authorization, Secrets Manager, and IAM.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Splunk, and QRadar.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing AI-assisted programming.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Client-facing experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong experience with Agile methodologies and Rally.

Education Requirements:

• BA/BS in a related field and 7+ years of related experience.
• Must provide proof of continuous residency in the United States for the last 2 years.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $55.00 to $60.00/hr. w2, Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
