Firmware Engineer

The Firmware Engineer designs, develops, and tests robust embedded software and firmware for complex products. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, defines hardware-to-software interfaces, and implements reliable drivers and software components that run on embedded systems and real-time operating systems., * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop robust embedded software and firmware for assigned products.

• Integrate software components into embedded platforms and ensure seamless interaction between hardware and software.
• Build and execute unit-level and system-level tests using hardware-in-the-loop simulators to validate functionality and performance.
• Define, document, and manage hardware-to-software interfaces to ensure clarity and maintainability across the system.
• Design and implement drivers for embedded system peripherals, ensuring reliability and efficient resource usage.
• Develop secure firmware and contribute to security best practices in embedded software design.
• Use version control systems to manage source code, track changes, and support collaborative development.
• Troubleshoot and debug embedded software issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective fixes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into technical specifications and implementation plans., This role operates in a technical, collaborative environment focused on embedded systems and firmware development. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, using tools such as Git for version control, hardware-in-the-loop simulators for testing, and RTOS platforms including Micro C, Zephyr, and Embedded Linux. The work involves a mix of design, implementation, integration, and testing activities on embedded hardware and software, with an emphasis on reliability, security, and performance.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM field.
• 6+ years of embedded software and firmware development experience in fast-paced environments.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C programming for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Experience with C++ for embedded and systems-level software development.
• Hands-on experience with I2C and other embedded communication protocols.
• Experience working with an RTOS such as Micro C, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux.
• Proficiency in developing secure firmware and applying security principles in embedded software.
• Experience using Git or a similar version-control system for collaborative development and code management.
• Ability to define and manage hardware-to-software interfaces in complex embedded systems.
• Experience designing and implementing drivers for embedded system peripherals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Zephyr RTOS and Zephyr-based embedded Linux environments.
• Background in working with hardware-in-the-loop simulators for system and integration testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex embedded systems.
• Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and test engineering.
• Comfort with fast-paced, iterative development environments and continuous improvement practices.

This is a Permanent position based out of Centennial, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
