Job description
Working as part of a collaborative team in an academic library environment, this position reports to the Discovery Services Librarian in the Collection Development & Management (CDM) department. The specialist will help support electronic resource access, contribute to the maintenance of the library website, and help collect data on usage activity.
Electronic Resources Management & Support: Assist in managing the online Databases A-Z list to ensure accurate linking, descriptions, and access to resources. Troubleshoot and resolve access issues related to electronic resources, including databases, eJournals, subscription platforms, and eBooks. Collaborate with vendors to ensure consistent access through authentication systems (EZProxy, SSO). Maintain documentation on troubleshooting procedures and access management workflows.
Website & UX Design: Assist with the maintenance of the library website using a content management system (e.g., WordPress, LibGuides CMS) and static sites. Enhance usability, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness using user-centered design principles. Collaborate with librarians and academic staff to design web content that supports research and instruction. Help conduct user research testing and collect user feedback to inform continuous improvements.
Analytics & Reporting: Assist in the collection and maintenance of electronic resource usage data including COUNTER reports and vendor data. Contribute to usage analysis to support collection development and policy decisions. Use tools such as Matomo Analytics to track and assess website and digital resource performance. Develop clear and effective data visualizations (e.g., dashboards, charts, infographics) to communicate usage trends, access issues, and user behavior to library stakeholders. Assist in identifying opportunities for improving the discoverability and accessibility of electronic resources through data-driven insights.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Required Related Experience
Six (6) months’ experience with website maintenance or design.
Desirable Related Experience
Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited program. Working knowledge of electronic resource access, including authentication protocols and link resolvers. Experience working in an academic library or higher education environment. Familiarity with CSS frameworks. Knowledge of web accessibility standards, UX research, and responsive design.
Benefits & conditions
$59,724 - $74,355; commensurate with experience
