The Service, Strategy and Transformation Directorate is recruiting a permanent SEO Engagement Advisor. The Engagement Advisor will sit within our Enable & Grow workstream and play a leading role in managing and developing the MoJ-wide Transformation Engagement Hub. The role will help teams across the department build the skills, confidence and capability to deliver effective transformation engagement themselves, through practical tools, guidance, learning and support., At the MoJ we believe and promote alternative ways of working, these roles are available as:
- Full-time, part-time or the option to job share
- Flexible working patterns

About the Directorate
This role sits within the Service Strategy and Transformation (SS&T) directorate within the Chief Operating Officer Group (COOG).
The SS&T directorate works across COOG and the wider MoJ to improve how justice services are designed and delivered, helping to achieve better outcomes for users and more effective delivery across complex systems.
The directorate includes several complementary functions:
- Strategy: Bringing COOG together to set a clear 3-5 year plan, align priorities and track progress.

Engagement: Helping people understand, shape and adopt transformation through stakeholder engagement, capability building and targeted support.

Transformation Office: Running the transformation portfolio, supporting the DG-level committee, spotting risks and removing blockers.
- Transformation Delivery: Helping teams deliver change end-to-end and sharing best practice, testing new ways of working and improving outcomes for users.
About the Engagement Advisor role
The Engagement Advisor role will focus on managing the Transformation Engagement Hub, a department-wide resource designed to help teams across MoJ plan and deliver effective transformation engagement. The Hub brings together practical tools, templates, guidance and advice in one place, making it easier for colleagues to involve the right people, at the right time, in the right way.
The role will help build engagement capability across the organisation by developing and improving the Hub, creating practical tools and guidance, supporting training, and promoting consistent good practice across the department.
Day-to-day responsibilities
This role would suit someone who can operate in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and can deliver high-quality communications while building trusted relationships across a wide stakeholder landscape.
You will:
- Manage the day-to-day running and ongoing development of the Transformation Engagement Hub, ensuring content, tools and guidance remain useful, accessible and up to date
- Develop practical engagement tools, templates and guidance that help teams across MoJ plan and deliver effective engagement
- Test and refine new content, tools and functionality, using user feedback, data and learning to identify and implement improvements
- Work with colleagues and subject matter experts across MoJ to source, develop and quality-assure content for the Hub
- Use analytics and insight to understand what users need and prioritise improvements
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across MoJ and its agencies to understand engagement needs, identify opportunities and encourage use of the Hub
- Support the promotion and rollout of the Hub, helping to build awareness, usage and engagement across the organisation
- Turn complex transformation and engagement information into clear, accessible and audience-focused products
- Provide practical engagement advice and support to teams where appropriate, helping them identify suitable approaches, tools and channels
- Manage competing priorities and take ownership of work from initial idea through to delivery, resolving problems and adapting approaches as needed
- Continuously improve the Hub and wider engagement offer by seeking feedback, testing ideas and applying learning

Successful applicants will then be invited through to the interview stage, where we will assess both technical skills and experience.
Candidates invited to interview
Candidates who are successful at sift will be invited to attend one interview stage.
Interview (30 minutes)
Candidates will be invited to a brief interview answering questions focused on technical skills and experience relevant to the role, through experience - based questions. Candidates may draw on examples from professional, voluntary or personal experience that they consider relevant. You will not be assessed against Civil Service behaviours, although we do recommend using STAR format for your answers., The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.
Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone’s circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.
For nationally advertised roles: All successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office nearest to their home postcode and on its respective pay scale. This will be at either a HQ building (subject to desk allocation, a Justice Collaboration Centre (JCC) or a Justice Satellite Office (JSO) - See Map. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity).
For current MoJ employees, your base location will need to be changed to the nearest viable office (to your home postcode), either at a HQ building, JCC or JSO within the National Office Network and moved its location’s respective pay scale (any legacy arrangements/locations will need to be amended).
Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on ‘modernised’ terms in their current post or onto ‘unmodernised’ MoJ terms if they are on ‘unmodernised’ terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.
MoJ candidates who are on a specialist grade, will be able to retain their grade on lateral transfer.

Flexible working hours
The Ministry of Justice offers a flexible working system in many offices. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. - Proven experience in transformation engagement, communications or stakeholder management, ideally in a complex organisation
- A strong track record of building trusted, effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- The ability to prioritise effectively, manage competing demands, and communicate with confidence and credibility at senior levels
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to experiment, problem-solve and learn quickly through doing

Annual Leave
Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service.
