Software Engineer, Firmware Platforms, Vehicle Software

As a member of the Firmware Platforms team, you will deliver high-quality embedded code on the processors at the heart of Tesla’s heart of current and future Tesla products-next-generation vehicles, Cybercab robotaxis, Optimus robots, and energy devices. You will take on the hardest embedded problems: bringing up new microcontrollers, low-level debugging and diagnostics, applied cryptography, real-time operating systems, and more. At Tesla, you will help build and maintain the core infrastructure that enables Over-The-Air updates across these platforms, and you will have a direct hand in shipping the firmware that makes unsupervised autonomy real. What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environment
• Specify, design, and implement new functionality for embedded subsystems
• Design the software architecture and firmware implementation through integration, test, and high-volume manufacturing
• Hands-on hardware bring-up, system debugging, and code optimization
• Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements

• Experience in embedded development in robotics, real-time controls, or system software
• Proficiency in C
• Fluent in software fundamentals including software design for maintainability
• Experience with embedded microprocessor toolchains and debuggers
• Controls software and algorithm development
• Test-driven development and familiarity with developer-driven automated testing
• Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts
• Understanding of physics and basic electronics principles, preferred
• Experience with at least one assembly language, preferred
• Familiarity with static analysis, fuzzing, or other advanced testing/verification tools, preferred

Expected Compensation $140,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
