Job description
The TWINCORE administration organizes all central administrative processes at the center. It sees itself as a support unit that creates the necessary framework conditions for the scientific research groups so that they can fulfill their research mission. These are the tasks you can expect:
- Conceptual development of the IT infrastructure in collaboration with the Executive Board, Administrative Management, and the Infrastructure Division Management
- User support for TWINCORE employees on all IT-related issues
- Management of local and global server and storage systems
- Service and maintenance of the network in the TWINCORE building (firewall, routers, switches)
- Installation and support
- Coordination of collaboration with the IT departments of both shareholders
Requirements
- Successfully completed technical college or bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology
- or successfully completed technical training in the IT field (e.g., IT specialist, etc.) with several years of relevant experience
- Experience in administering Linux-based IT systems
- Experience in administering mail servers and basic email services
- Strong knowledge of network technology and network administration
- Knowledge of virtualization solutions
- Prior experience in endpoint management and mobile device management (MDM)
- Good knowledge of Windows and macOS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German
- Ability to work well in a team
- High flexibility and ability to work under pressure
- Strong service orientation
Desirable for this position:
- Knowledge of administering Active Directory and Windows Server environments
- Knowledge of VoIP and telephony systems
- Knowledge of software-defined storage
- Experience with VPN technologies
- Interest in science and research
