Job description
The role will support radio-system hardware, software, networking, fleet mapping, Code Plug management, equipment inventory, FCC licensing activities, system installations, vendor coordination, and integration with existing state networks. Support, configure, maintain, and install radio communication systems and related technologies. Work with P25 digital trunking radio systems and EF Johnson Radio Coordinator technologies. Maintain and audit DOC Fleet Maps, including radios and talk-group assignments. Maintain radio equipment inventories and related databases. Configure networking equipment, including switches and other network equipment supporting radio systems. Install, configure, and back up workstations used with IT-integrated radio systems. Conduct and support radio system site surveys and identify operational or technical issues. Work with vendors, contractors, architects, engineers, and departmental users during radio system installations. Assist with procurement activities and equipment compatibility/cost-effectiveness evaluations. Train DOC institution staff and maintenance technicians on radio systems and equipment.
Requirements
Knowledge of radio equipment and digital radio trunking systems. Knowledge of radio equipment operating procedures. Knowledge of FCC licensing procedures and license maintenance. Knowledge of radio programming software and interface equipment. Experience with PCs, Windows operating systems, and Microsoft Office. Experience with network cabling, including copper and fiber optic technologies. Ability to resolve technical and interpersonal issues. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple projects and operational responsibilities.
