Specialist, Technical Operations - National Geographic

The Specialist, Technical Operations role supports media operations, content preparation, and distribution activities for internal and external stakeholders across productions, marketing, communications, technical and events teams. Responsibilities include processing work orders, organizing media assets, supporting content delivery through approved platforms, assisting users with technical requests, and maintaining accurate operational records. This role works within established processes and collaborates with technical and operational teams to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of media content while maintaining quality, confidentiality, and service standards. Responsibilities

• Process internal requests and resources within internal systems for work orders, post- production schedule management, and adjust for 3rd parties inquires.
• Troubleshoot technical requests on the fly to support departments for program duplication needs & distribution.
• Onboard and support requests in the MediaSilo/screening sites.
• Work with high profile content that will be distributed across internal and external teams.
• Maintain on time delivery of priority materials from the Event tracker.
• Assist Corp. Communications for full staffing events requiring the A/V team expertise.
• Oversee the organization and tracking of audio/video equipment through equipment check-in/check-out and inventory control processes, ensuring camera systems and related gear are operational, production-ready, and accurately accounted for

• Minimum 3 years of experience in media operations, content distribution, post-production, mastering, or other event/distribution-related functions.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
• Experience working with digital media assets and content delivery systems.
• Must have a good understanding of the motion picture post-production process (asset creation, versioning and QC) and technical delivery requirements (codec, aspect ratios and audio layouts); in addition to localization, documentation and captions.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and tracking audio/video production equipment, including cameras, microphones, tripods, batteries, chargers, and SD cards, with proficiency using Airtable or similar inventory management systems to ensure equipment readiness and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MediaSilo, PIX, Frame.io, Aspera, Airtable, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of media workflows, file formats, and digital asset management practices.
• Experience supporting media distribution, content operations, or post-production teams.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required

The hiring range for this position in Washington, DC is $59,600 to $79,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
