Job description

Support database architecture and planning activities.
Understand the interface between processing large amounts of data and how it will be stored.
Map out database structures and the overall database design.
Utilize cloud-based tools to evaluate database solutions and support planning activities.
Develop queries and evaluate approaches for storing, retrieving, transferring, and deleting data.
Partner with stakeholders to translate software requirements and models.
Lead software system-level analyses to identify risks and opportunities.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Experience: 5-10 years of related work experience is preferred. A minimum of 3+ years’ experience with large Database Management Systems (DBMS) is required.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
Experience in database design.
Foundational Computer Science knowledge, including object-oriented design and software patterns.
Knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, such as SSIS.
Familiarity with data backup and recovery techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud databases.
Experience with large-scale data systems.
Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python, JS frameworks (REACT, jQuery UI, Open Layers), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, REST, and OpenAPI.
Experience using dependency management and automation services (e.g., Ivy, Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins).
Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, and CI/CD management.
Experience with data system optimization, including performance tuning and indexing.
Experience with RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) data systems.
