Job description

We are seeking a Lead Software Architect to own and guide the software architecture of an ongoing delivery project. The role involves ensuring alignment between the architecture and the actual build, maintaining codebase integrity, enforcing standards, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a high-quality, scalable solution. The candidate will also coach developers and act as a technical point of contact for various stakeholders., * Own the software architecture of the solution within the running delivery context, ensuring the built product matches the architecture and managing deviations and technical debt.

  • Guard the integrity of the codebase by removing duplication, maximizing reuse, and keeping the solution modular, lean, and easy to onboard into.
  • Evaluate every new story against the existing codebase to promote reuse over rebuilding.
  • Set and enforce verifiable standards for security, performance, and scalability, including review checklists, static analysis, quality gates, and architecture decision records.
  • Detail the high-level solution produced by the Solution Architect into actionable designs for the development team, infrastructure team, and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure the solution implementation complies with the customer’s enterprise technology, infrastructure, and security standards, adapting the design based on non-functional test results.
  • Collaborate with the technical product manager and QA lead to shape user stories into executable work, challenging assumptions to pursue optimal solutions.
  • Identify dependencies on other systems, teams, vendors, data, and infrastructure early, and drive their resolution to prevent sprint blockages.
  • Set up and improve delivery tooling, including local development setups, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, preview and test environments, logging, and monitoring to enhance delivery speed and quality.
  • Coach developers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical walkthroughs to elevate the entire team’s skill level and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for other teams, third parties, the project manager, and the UX designer.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years working experience in software engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years as tech lead, lead developer, or solution designer within a delivery team.
  • Demonstrable production experience with Next.js and React in TypeScript, across a minimum of 2 projects.
  • Demonstrable production experience with Sitecore in a headless setup.
  • Demonstrable working experience with .NET 8 or higher for backend services.
  • Minimum 2 days per week onsite availability.
  • C1 level (or equivalent) proficiency in spoken and written English. EVALUATION CRITERIA For each evaluation criterion, the expectation is that your CV clearly demonstrates relevant experience or knowledge through one or more examples. The more relevant experience or knowledge you can provide as evidence, the stronger your CV will be evaluated.

  • Software Architecture & Codebase Integrity: Sets and enforces architecture on a product already in build-out, handles technical debt, reduces duplication and maximises reuse
  • Sitecore Headless: Applies XM Cloud, Headless Services / JSS or Content SDK, Experience Edge in production
  • Frontend Proficiency: Applies Next.js, React and TypeScript effectively, including rendering strategy and performance
  • Cloud & CI/CD: Applies Azure hosting, environment management and CI/CD pipelines
  • Requirement Shaping & Dependencies: Shapes stories before development starts, surfaces dependencies early enough to prevent blocked work
  • Coaching: Raises the technical level of a team through code review, pairing and knowledge sharing
