Job description

The primary focus of this role is to provide expert technical services, including installing, configuring, and decommissioning Cisco network equipment. As a contractor, you will support our nationwide operations, troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges, and ensure all work meets high technical, quality, and safety standards. This role suits engineers seeking flexible, ad-hoc assignments., * Install, configure, and maintain Cisco routers, switches, and access points on-site.

  • Conduct technical assessments, including Wi-Fi surveys and Wireless Access Point (WAP) installations.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand and qualify project requirements.
  • Review project scopes and suggest improvements or adjustments as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project success.
  • Address and resolve on-site technical issues, escalating unresolved challenges promptly.
  • Prepare and submit accurate project documentation in a timely manner.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Conduct tool and equipment checks before deployment to ensure readiness.
  • Provide regular status updates to project managers and coordinators.
  • Ensure compliance with technical, quality, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Manage data security and software licensing for customer-owned equipment.

Requirements

Essential:

  • CCNA certification (or equivalent experience/actively working towards it).
  • Proven hands-on experience in the telecommunications or networking industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge, particularly with Cisco equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking effectively.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.

Desirable:

  • Additional Cisco certifications such as CCENT, CCT, or advanced CCNA specializations (e.g., Cloud, CyberOps).
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly within the banking sector.
  • Formal education in computer science, IT, or a related field.
