Job description

As a Senior Technical Application Engineer in the LeanApps TAM team, you are one of the key experts responsible for the stability, security and performance of the LeanApps application for multiple Life & Pension customers. You will take ownership of complex incidents, improve application resilience and manage patching and upgrades across Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Database, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Java. Your work will have a direct impact on the quality and reliability of LeanApps. By combining your technical expertise with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, you will help us resolve issues, automate processes and continuously improve our SaaS platform.

Key about your role

You will:

  • Take ownership of complex incidents and problems on the LeanApps application, acting as a technical escalation point for colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Guard and improve application uptime and resilience, implementing structural fixes and preventive measures for issues such as disk capacity problems, CPU bottlenecks, WebLogic availability issues and database performance bottlenecks.
  • Design, plan and execute patching and upgrade cycles for the underlying technology stack, including Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Database, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9, Java and related components, balancing risk, downtime and compliance requirements.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of client and server certificates, including planning renewals, coordinating with customers and ensuring secure deployment across environments.
  • Oversee web application and integration provisioning on WebLogic, including network/security configurations, whitelisting, deployments and end-to-end technical validation.
  • Drive capacity management and monitoring: tuning thresholds, improving dashboards and automating responses where possible across Linux, WebLogic, Java and Oracle components.
  • Play a key role in external audits, penetration tests and disaster recovery/failover tests: preparing evidence, leading technical execution, and following up on remediation actions.
  • Contribute to the standardization and automation of TAM processes, including runbooks, shell scripts, Python tooling and configuration management with Ansible or Puppet where applicable.
  • Work closely with product development, SaaS platform teams, database specialists and customer teams to align on changes, releases and longer-term roadmap items.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge through documentation, pair troubleshooting and knowledge sessions.
  • You are comfortable making decisions in complex situations, keeping the overview under pressure and balancing customer expectations, security and operational risk.

Key about your team

You will work in the LeanApps TAM team, part of Keylane SaaS organization:

  • We deliver best-in-class SaaS services from a secure, ISO-certified private cloud, ensuring our customers can focus on their core business while we manage the technical application platform.
  • The team consists of highly skilled IT professionals with strong expertise in Linux, databases, middleware, automation and security, combined with knowledge of the Life & Pension domain.
  • We work with standardized processes for migrations, implementations, patching, releases and operations, and continuously refine our way of working based on experience and feedback.
  • LeanApps is an important application within Keylane; the growing operational scope makes this team increasingly important and offers room for you to influence technology choices, automation and process improvements.
  • We value openness, collaboration and ownership: everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas and take initiative.

Requirements

We are looking for a Senior Technical Application Engineer to help us ensure the stability, security and performance for our Life & Pension customers. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, we’d like to meet you!, You recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • You have at least a completed HBO Beta or academic degree in an IT-related field.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in technical application management, infrastructure engineering or a similar role managing business-critical applications.
  • You have strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database, including performance analysis, troubleshooting, connectivity and operational support.
  • You are proficient with Oracle WebLogic as a web application server and understand how it interacts with Java applications, Linux, networks, security components and the application layer.
  • You have practical experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or 9, security hardening, patching and vulnerability management, especially in regulated or audited environments.
  • You are familiar with certificates (PKI), networking and firewalls, and know how to work with concepts like whitelisting, proxies and load balancers.
  • You can script and automate with shell scripting and Python, and you are comfortable working with monitoring and deployment tools.
  • Experience with Ansible or Puppet is a strong plus; experience in the financial services or pension/insurance domain is also valuable.
  • You are analytical, structured and pragmatic, able to quickly understand complex situations and define clear next steps.
  • You are a communicative team player: you work closely with colleagues and stakeholders, and can translate technical issues into business impact.
  • You are willing to work outside regular office hours and to participate in the standby/on-call rota.
