Job description
In this exciting role as a Clinical Data Analyst, the primary focus is to use data from company Surgery Business internal databases and external real-world data sources, like electronic health records (EHRs), claim databases and national disease registries, to generate evidence that augments clinical development and regulatory decisions outside of traditional clinical trials.
This is an individual contributor with knowledge of external data structures, industry standards, programming languages, and analysis methods. This role supports data analyses and reporting activities within RWE study initiatives in accordance with departmental processes and procedures.
This position is a member of the Real World Evidence & Process Automation team, capable of applying state of the art AI/ML methodology and effective programming tools to analyze complex data structures and contribute to departmental innovation and process improvement.
Principal Responsibilities:
Accountable for the complete life cycle of RWE generation including study designs, analysis plans, and implementing programming for analysis and reporting.
Follows departmental processes and procedures, ensures use of latest standards and
deployment of current technologies.
Performs appropriate level of verification of programming and reporting activities. Reviews
and provides input for project requirements and documentation.
- Contribute to departmental innovation and process automation projects.
- Collaborates effectively with biostatistics, programming, data management team and cross-functional members.
- Ensures continued compliance with required company and departmental training
Requirements
- Solid training statistics/biostatistics including methodologies used in clinical trials.
- Strong knowledge of epidemiologic methods and real-world study designs (e.g., causal inference, propensity score matching, retrospective cohort, case-control, external control arms).
- Demonstrated proficiency in SAS and R; Python and SQL preferred.
- Experience applying ML/AI in clinical and non-clinical settings. Demonstrable Generative AI skills for related work a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory expectations for RWE and observational research.
- Familiarity with modern data engineering tools and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS) is a plus., * Master’s degree or higher and/or equivalent in statistics/biostatistics, epidemiology, computer science, data science/data engineering, mathematics, or another relevant scientific field
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in medical research, preferably in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, CRO or Biotech industry or related field or industry.
- Experience delivering on RWE projects using advanced predictive methodologies including machine learning
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Knowledge of data structures and relevant programming languages for data
manipulation/statistical analysis and reporting.
- This position offers fully remote working on the case-by-case basis
