Software Developers

A growing technology business based in Herefordshire is looking for a Software Developer to join its technical team.

This is a broad, hands-on development role and could suit someone from a software development, application development, mobile development, web development or systems development background.

You do not need experience across every technology used by the business.

The company is open to developers at different levels, including candidates who have a strong foundation in one or more relevant technologies and are keen to broaden their experience.

You will work alongside experienced technical colleagues to design, develop, test, integrate and improve a range of software applications.

The environment includes Android, desktop, web and internal business applications, as well as software that communicates with other systems and equipment.

You will be involved across the software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and developing solutions through to testing, integration, release and ongoing improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve software applications
• Work across a mixture of application, web, mobile and desktop technologies
• Support development from requirements through to release
• Write clean, maintainable code
• Test applications and resolve bugs or technical issues
• Support integration between software, systems and equipment
• Work with databases and APIs
• Improve existing applications and functionality
• Support testing, QA and release processes
• Troubleshoot software and application issues
• Work with technical colleagues, users and wider stakeholders
• Learn and develop new technologies as required

• Java

• Android / Android Studio
• PHP
• JavaScript / TypeScript
• HTML / CSS
• C or C++
• SQL / MySQL / Microsoft SQL Server
• APIs and system integration
• Linux / Debian
• Desktop or application development
• Mobile application development
• Web application development

You do not need to tick every box.

We would also be happy to consider developers with a good software engineering foundation who are keen to learn technologies such as Android, Kotlin, Java or PHP.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, office-based position in Herefordshire.

It could suit an experienced developer looking for a broader technical role, or someone earlier in their career who has a solid software development foundation and wants exposure to a wider range of technologies.
