Job description

We are seeking an experienced Security Engineer to install, service, maintain and fault-find electronic security systems at commercial sites in and around London. This is a field-based role covering a varied customer portfolio; it does not include residential work. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality engineering, clear customer communication and accurate service documentation while working safely and efficiently., Install, commission, service and maintain CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and intercom systems at commercial premises.

Diagnose faults methodically and complete effective repairs, replacements and system adjustments.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance visits in accordance with schedules, specifications and company procedures.

Attend reactive call-outs, including participation in the 1-in-5 out-of-hours on-call rota.

Survey minor works and identify remedial actions, system improvements and equipment requirements.

Complete job sheets, test records, asset information and customer reports accurately and on time.

Explain faults, completed works and recommendations clearly to customers and site representatives.

Liaise with the office, operations team and other engineers regarding access, parts, progress and follow-on works.

Manage tools, test equipment, stock and any company vehicle responsibly.

Work safely and professionally at all times, complying with site rules, risk assessments and company procedures.

Travel between various commercial sites in and around London, planning journeys to meet scheduled appointments.

Requirements

Proven experience as a security systems engineer in a commercial environment.

Strong practical knowledge of CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems; intercom experience is also beneficial.

Ability to install, commission, service and fault-find systems with minimal supervision.

Confident use of appropriate test equipment, hand tools, power tools and engineer software applications.

Able to read technical drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams and manufacturer instructions.

Good written and verbal communication, with a professional customer-facing manner.

Organised, dependable and able to manage a mobile workload across multiple sites.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout London and surrounding areas.

Willingness and ability to participate in the 1-in-5 on-call rota and work reasonable overtime when required.

Desirable

Relevant electrical, electronic security or manufacturer training and certifications.

Experience with IP networking and remote diagnostics for integrated security systems.

Knowledge of commonly used commercial security platforms and products.

Experience working in occupied offices, public buildings, healthcare, education or other managed commercial environments.

Current ECS/CSCS card, IPAF or PASMA certification where relevant to site duties.

Benefits & conditions

Working Hours, On-call and Overtime

Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Participation in a 1-in-5 out-of-hours on-call rota.

Overtime is available and may be required to meet customer or operational needs; payment is in accordance with company terms.

Competitive salary, dependent on experience, with on-call allowance and any additional benefits to be confirmed at offer stage.

Field-based travel to various commercial sites in and around London; there is no residential work.

Performance will be assessed against agreed objectives, including:

Quality, reliability and first-time fix performance.

Completion of planned visits and reactive calls within agreed timescales.

Accuracy and timeliness of service records, reports and follow-on recommendations.

Customer satisfaction, professional conduct and care of customer premises.

Safe working, effective communication and collaboration with the wider team.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
