Job description

Rockland Flooring is seeking a versatile technology professional who combines hands-on application development with on-site systems administration. This hybrid role will modernize legacy business applications while maintaining the performance, reliability, security, and supportability of the technology environment throughout our manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between legacy application modernization, database work, infrastructure support, cybersecurity, and end-user troubleshooting. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving root-cause problems, taking ownership of projects, and delivering practical solutions that support manufacturing and corporate operations., Application Development & Legacy Modernization

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, stable, and maintainable business applications using C# and .NET.
  • Modernize Microsoft Access and VBA applications into cross-platform C#/.NET solutions using the Uno Platform and XAML.
  • Translate business requirements into practical software features in collaboration with stakeholders and IT peers.
  • Build and maintain business logic, user-facing functionality, integrations, data access layers, SQL queries, web APIs, and EF Core components.
  • Improve existing code through refactoring, documentation, peer review, testing, and technical-debt remediation.
  • Research technical options, document findings, and recommend solutions that balance maintainability, security, cost, and operational needs.

Systems Administration & Infrastructure

  • Assist as needed resolving hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain the operational health of manufacturing systems, workstations, servers, network infrastructure, and related technology.
  • Administer and support workstations, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, backups, and other computing equipment.
  • Monitor system performance and security, investigate findings, and take appropriate corrective and preventive action.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and external partners to implement upgrades, projects, and solutions with minimal business disruption.
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure, support, configuration, and recovery documentation.

Database, Security & Business Continuity

  • Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, schemas, queries, and migration processes that support business applications.
  • Apply approved standards for authentication, authorization, encryption, secure coding, patching, and data handling.
  • Identify and help remediate vulnerable dependencies, certificate issues, application risks, and infrastructure security concerns.
  • Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
  • Assist with incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and documentation of corrective and preventive actions.

Testing, Deployment & Support

  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests and contribute to automated quality practices.
  • Support application builds, deployments, validation, release documentation, and production troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose application latency, connection failures, production defects, and infrastructure issues using logs and diagnostic tools.
  • Manage assigned work independently, communicate status clearly, and adapt to interruptions and changing operational priorities.
  • Provide critical after-hours support when needed to protect core business operations or complete planned work with minimal disruption.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of combined professional experience in application development, systems administration, or closely related IT roles, including at least three years of hands-on C#/.NET development.
  • Professional experience building or maintaining business applications using C# and .NET.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including database structures, queries, migrations, upgrades, or schema changes.
  • Experience maintaining or converting Microsoft Access, VBA, or other legacy applications.
  • Experience with a XAML-based framework such as Uno Platform, UWP/WinUI, WPF, or comparable desktop UI technology.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Windows workstations, servers, networks, routers, switches, firewalls, backup systems, and common enterprise applications.
  • Understanding of modular design, separation of concerns, dependency injection, APIs, HTTP, TCP/IP, and client-server troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Git-based version control, SDLC practices, testing, deployments, and software release processes.
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across application, database, hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with technical peers, business users, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on-site at and provide limited after-hours support for critical issues or planned changes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, EF Core, web APIs, CI/CD pipelines, C#/.NET, and automated quality checks.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, scripting, PowerShell, or other automation technologies.
  • Experience with ITIL practices, particularly Incident and Change Management.
  • Knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data loss prevention, system security, or computer forensic concepts.
  • Experience supporting technology in a manufacturing or multi-site operational environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, related field or equivalent professional experience, training, and relevant project work will be considered.

Benefits & conditions

Success in This Role

  • Legacy applications are moved to a more secure, sustainable, and supportable platform.
  • Technology systems remain reliable, well-documented, and aligned with business needs.
  • Incidents are resolved at the root cause, with practical steps taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Projects and releases are completed with clear communication, appropriate testing, and minimal operational disruption.
  • Technical decisions balance software quality, infrastructure stability, cybersecurity, and business value.
