Job description
Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a role that offers predominantly Monday-Friday daytime hours, while still retaining some shift-based engineering responsibility?, I’m representing a well-established and rapidly growing manufacturer based in Perthshire, who are looking to add an experienced Electrical Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to their Engineering Team.
The business has recently doubled in size and has plans to nearly double again within the next 24 months, creating significant investment in the site and opportunities for future progression.
About the Role
This is a slightly different engineering position, offering a combination of day-based maintenance and shift engineering cover.
Approximately 60% of your working pattern will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, carrying out planned maintenance, preventative work, improvements and supporting the wider engineering requirements of the site.
The remaining 40% will provide holiday, absence and additional cover for the existing shift engineering team, which operates a 4 on / 4 off pattern across 12-hour days and nights.
You’ll therefore need to be comfortable working both days and nights when providing shift cover, but this is not a permanent 4 on / 4 off position.
You’ll be responsible for a combination of planned, preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance, helping minimise downtime and ensure equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and site equipment
- Provide engineering support during predominantly Monday-Friday daytime hours
- Provide planned and unplanned holiday and absence cover for engineers working the 4 on / 4 off days and nights rota
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults across production equipment
- Respond effectively to breakdowns and minimise production downtime
- Carry out root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Record maintenance activity accurately through the site’s CMMS system
- Support continuous improvement, reliability and asset-care initiatives
- Assist with engineering projects and equipment improvements across the site
- Support procurement of critical components, spares and maintenance equipment
- Liaise effectively with Production and other internal departments
- Work with external contractors where required
- Ensure all engineering activity complies with site Health & Safety standards
- Identify recurring equipment issues and opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency
Requirements
- A time-served Electrical Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
- Previous engineering experience within a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong electrical fault-finding ability, including control panels, wiring diagrams, sensors and inputs/outputs
- Good mechanical maintenance and fault-finding capability
- Experience carrying out PPM, reactive maintenance and breakdown response
- A good understanding of maintenance planning, asset care and engineering compliance
- Familiarity with CMMS systems would be advantageous
- Proactive, reliable and comfortable working independently when required
- Willing and able to provide 4 on / 4 off day and night shift cover for holidays and absence
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment, This could particularly suit an experienced shift engineer who wants to move towards predominantly Monday-Friday working without giving up the earning potential or hands-on nature of shift engineering.
Benefits & conditions
- Circa £50,000 per annum
- Approximately 60% Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
- Approximately 40% shift cover, providing variety without permanently working a rotating shift pattern
- Join a growing manufacturing business undergoing significant expansion
- Opportunity to become an important and flexible member of the site’s Engineering Team
- Exposure to both planned/reliability engineering and hands-on breakdown maintenance
- Internal training, development and opportunities to progress as the site continues to grow
- Secure, permanent position within an established manufacturer
