Job description
We are looking for a WordPress designer and developer who has a sharp eye for design and can turn a strong layout into a polished, working website using Elementor or a similar visual builder.
You will design and build responsive WordPress pages and websites, making thoughtful decisions about hierarchy, spacing, typography, imagery and how people move through a page. You should be comfortable working from a brief, a supplied design, or an existing brand, and able to carry the work through to a finished Elementor build. The details matter: layouts should feel consistent, work across screen sizes, and be ready for a careful pre-launch review.
This role suits someone who enjoys both the creative decisions and the practical build. You can spot when a page feels off, explain what would improve it and make the changes yourself.
Why Work With Us? (What Makes Us Special)
- Creative ownership. Bring ideas to the table, make considered design choices, and take pride in the quality of the finished site.
- Flexibility around life. We understand that school runs and other commitments sometimes call for adjusted hours. We focus on the quality of your work and delivery.
- Varied projects. Build for different clients and industries, including our theme division and agency accounts, rather than repeating the same layout for one brand.
- A supportive team. Share ideas with designers, marketers and developers, and join us for team days and celebrations.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and build: Create attractive, usable WordPress websites and landing pages in Elementor, from initial page structure to final responsive build.
- Layout and detail: Apply strong visual hierarchy, typography, spacing, colour and imagery. Keep pages consistent with the brand and check every detail before handover.
- Responsive experience: Adapt layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile, checking navigation, forms, readability and page behaviour on each.
- Delivery and collaboration: Work with the wider team and client briefs, make sensible decisions within WordPress, and test and refine pages before launch. Consider accessibility, page speed and conversion goals as part of the build., * Flexible Working: Work flexibility built around real life (including school runs and flexible hours).
- Perks & Culture: Pension contribution, team days, Christmas parties, lunch & learns, and continuous development if required
- Varied Experience: Work on diverse projects without getting bored of the same single brand every day., You must have the full right to work in the UK. Although this is a remote position, you must be able to attend the offices in Essex or Hertfordshire at short notice and for team/client meetings as and when required.
Requirements
- A strong designer who can build. You understand web layouts and user journeys, have a keen eye for alignment and detail, and can confidently implement your work in Elementor or a comparable visual builder. You have practical WordPress experience and can solve routine build issues.
- Show us your work. A degree is not essential. We would like to see live websites or portfolio examples, with a brief note on what you designed and what you personally built. Experience with HTML and CSS for finishing touches is welcome.
- Live within a 60-minute commute of Essex or Hertfordshire and be able to attend occasional team and client meetings, including at short notice when required.
About the company
