Job description

We are seeking a Technical Lead to drive the architecture, technical direction, and delivery of an event-driven microservices platform built on AWS. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, requiring deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and ensure scalable, resilient, and high-performing solutions.

What You Can Expect (Responsibilities)

  • Define and own the architecture of Java/Spring Boot microservices and distributed systems.
  • Lead the design of event-driven solutions, including messaging, streaming, and distributed transaction patterns.
  • Establish API standards, governance, versioning strategies, and integration best practices.
  • Guide engineering teams through technical decisions, code reviews, and delivery execution.
  • Partner with business and product stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive observability, resilience, security, performance, and AWS cost optimization initiatives.
  • Evaluate technologies, remove technical blockers, and support long-term platform evolution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including 4+ years leading development teams or technical initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture design.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures using AWS services such as Kinesis, SQS, and SNS.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed transactions, saga patterns, and orchestration strategies.
  • Strong AWS architecture experience, including API Gateway, DynamoDB, IAM, compute, networking, and security services.
  • Experience defining observability strategies and implementing monitoring, tracing, and alerting solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead engineers, drive technical decisions, and establish development standards.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
  • Experience with orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Camunda, or AWS Step Functions.
  • Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD expertise (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
  • Financial services or payments industry experience.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development, LLM-based solutions, MCP, RAG, and AI governance practices.

Benefits & conditions

On-site collaboration in a dynamic and fast-paced environment in the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area.

Long-term contract engagement with high impact and autonomy.

Strategic and high-visibility role within a modern engineering culture.
