Job description

Our data centers host applications process billions of transactions, supporting state, federal and commercial business., Provide system/production support and monitoring for applications, batch cycles, releases, projects, implementations, installations, etc. Participate in work sessions for system support and problem resolution., This position is full time and fully onsite in Columbia, South Carolina (strongly preferred), State College, PA, or Dallas, TX. This position operates within a work environment that is fast paced, multi-platformed and customer-focused, project-oriented applications environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer. support environment., * Perform/Support installation, configuration, administration, implementation, scheduling and/or tuning/modification of applications. Provide support for simple to moderate system/production performance concerns. Collaborate with various internal groups and external vendors to ensure all specifications are met and problems are resolved as they arise.
- Monitor and report on scheduled batch and online applications for successful/unsuccessful execution. May run necessary system backups. Review and/or create documentation for accuracy, future problems, and company standards.
- Perform testing responsibilities as needed. Review all abnormal results/issues from previous processing cycles and verify that they have been logged/resolved.
- Communicate with applications on-call persons to repair applications that ended abnormally. May perform corrective actions whenever possible to fix applications that end abnormally and/or notify appropriate area for resolution. Consult with senior level peers on projects of greater complexity.
- Participate in work sessions and walkthroughs for quality and production implementations, releases, data conversion projects and/or disaster recovery exercises.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in a job related field
Degree Equivalency:
- Associates degree plus an extra 2 years of job-related work experience for a total of 4 years of required work experience (see “required work experience”)
OR
- 6 total years required work experience.
Required Work Experience:
- 2 years of technical experience with systems analysis, design, and/or programming experience or other job-related IT experience.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehends data storage techniques, basic database philosophy, database management, and simple programming techniques.
- Good understanding of the requirements for maintaining production systems and the effect of program changes.
- Understands how to use structured techniques in new program development.
- Good understanding of development, quality assurance, and integration methodologies.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
- Pays attention to detail.
Required Software and Tools:
Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and/or development/productivity tools and their usage in the company.
We Prefer That You Have The Following:
- Hands-on experience with z/OS and CICS.
- COBOL, JCL, and/or REXX experience.
- Knowledge of monitoring/performance tools (such as BMC or IBM Performance Analyzer).
- Exposure to Assembler, VSAM, and SMP/E.
