Job description

We are looking for an experienced and practical Technical Lead to provide technical direction and leadership across multiple automation projects. You will lead and mentor engineering teams, oversee the technical delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle, and act as the key escalation point for technical challenges. Working closely with design, production, planning, sales, suppliers and customers, you will ensure innovative automation solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards., * Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, supporting their development and growth.

  • Provide technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to build, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
  • Review and analyse customer requirements, developing effective technical solutions.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies across design, assembly and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Support design reviews, feasibility studies, proof-of-principle activities and design change processes.
  • Work closely with sales teams to develop technically and commercially viable solutions.
  • Collaborate with planning and production teams to ensure resources are effectively deployed.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement engineering best practice.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards, quality requirements, and health & safety regulations.
  • Support recruitment, training and development activities to build a resilient, multi-skilled team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading or managing engineering teams within an automation or manufacturing environment.
  • Significant engineering experience within the automation industry.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of robotics, machine controls, automated machinery and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with customers and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and passion for delivering innovative engineering solutions.
