Job description

This is a hybrid role, in terms of the days in the office per week , this will be decided upon the programme of work, this could be potentially a couple of days in the office , all depends on the programme and the work needed at the time, This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic SAP Manager to join the authority’s IT Services Team, based at Britannia House, Bradford.

Working as part of the leadership team within Enterprise Architecture and Systems Services, you will lead the SAP function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services. The role will also play a critical part in supporting the authority’s transition to a new ERP solution, ensuring a smooth migration and the successful implementation of the future platform., Service & Operational Management (BAU)

  • Own and manage SAP incidents, problems, and service requests
  • Prioritise and escalate incidents to ensure timely resolution
  • Chair and contribute to regular service review meetings
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality SAP service delivery

Change & Release Management

  • Oversee SAP change management processes, including CAB approvals
  • Coordinate SAP releases, patches, notes, and support packs
  • Manage system enhancements and configuration changes
  • Act as Technical Lead for projects impacting SAP
  • Support and guide SAP-related changes as part of the ERP transformation programme

ERP Transformation & Implementation

  • Play a key role in the selection, transition, and implementation of a new ERP solution
  • Support planning, design, and delivery of the ERP migration
  • Ensure business continuity and data integrity throughout the transition
  • Contribute to the successful adoption and optimisation of the new platform

Vendor & Third-Party Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for SAP support partners
  • Manage escalations and service performance
  • Maintain regular engagement with SAP account managers and suppliers

SAP Security, Access & Compliance

  • Manage privileged access and security processes
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g. ITGC, financial audits)
  • Ensure SAP security policies and procedures are maintained
  • Conduct regular reviews of high-risk access

Business Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary SAP contact for business stakeholders
  • Translate business requirements into SAP solutions or changes
  • Manage expectations, risks, and system limitations
  • Build strong relationships across services to support business outcomes

Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage the SAP support team
  • Promote a high-performance, collaborative working environment
  • Support staff development and continuous improvement, As SAP Manager, you will lead both SAP support and project delivery, including implementation and rollout activities. You will analyse user requirements, design solutions, configure the system, and oversee testing and deployment while ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of SAP services.

You will also support the strategic review of the SAP platform, working closely with the Enterprise Architect and Systems Services to shape the future ERP landscape., * Deliver and maintain SAP business solutions based on user requirements

  • Design, configure, test, and document SAP solutions aligned to functional and technical needs
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, customers, and team members
  • Contribute to team productivity, collaboration, and successful project outcomes
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills
