Job description
This is a senior, safety-critical position with responsibility for the safe control, isolation, switching and energisation of electrical systems across the project. The successful candidate will oversee electrical safety procedures and ensure that all work on live or potentially live systems is properly planned, authorised and completed safely., * Act as the appointed Senior Authorised Person for designated electrical systems
- Implement, monitor and enforce the project’s Electrical Safety Rules
- Control electrical switching, isolation, earthing and energisation activities
- Prepare, review and approve switching schedules and operating procedures
- Manage Permit-to-Work and Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Maintain control of live and potentially live electrical installations
- Appoint, coordinate and supervise Authorised Persons working on the project
- Review RAMS, electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and commissioning documentation
- Ensure that all required testing and certification is complete before energisation
- Control access to electrical rooms and other restricted electrical areas
- Maintain accurate permit, switching, training and authorisation records
- Coordinate with the commissioning, construction, engineering and health and safety teams
- Deliver electrical safety briefings and toolbox talks
- Monitor compliance and investigate electrical incidents, near misses and procedural breaches
- Ensure compliance with applicable project procedures, German regulations and VDE standards
Requirements
- Recognised qualification as an electrician, electrical technician or electrical engineer
- Previous formal experience working as a Senior Authorised Person
- Proven experience controlling LV, MV and/or HV electrical systems
- Strong practical experience with switching, isolation, LOTO and energisation procedures
- Experience on data centres, substations, power-generation facilities, pharmaceutical facilities or other mission-critical projects
- Thorough knowledge of electrical Permit-to-Work systems and Safe Systems of Work
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain accurate safety and operational documentation
- Good spoken and written English
- Knowledge of German and German electrical regulations would be advantageous
- Valid right to work in Germany
Preferred qualifications
- Current or recent SAP/AP training or certification
- Previous SAP appointment on a large-scale data centre project
- LV/MV/HV switching certification relevant to the project
- Knowledge of VDE standards and German electrical-safety requirements
- Relevant site-safety, first-aid or working-at-height certification
