  • Perform hands-on electrical testing and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic diagnostic equipment, and related software tools.
  • Apply systematic debugging and root-cause analysis techniques to isolate and resolve hardware and system-level issues.
  • Develop test specifications, test procedures, and validation plans to verify products against functional and performance requirements.
  • Document test results, defects, corrective actions, and engineering recommendations.
  • Support EMC design reviews and testing for domestic and international products.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure identified issues are properly documented, resolved, and validated.

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing operations during product introduction, pilot builds, and sustaining production.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues on the manufacturing line and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Support production teams with hardware integration, assembly, test, and process-related technical issues.
  • Investigate recurring manufacturing issues and identify opportunities to improve product design, manufacturability, reliability, and test processes.
  • Support engineering changes and product updates through implementation and production validation.

Customer & Field Technical Support

  • Provide engineering support for technical issues affecting current production products in the field.
  • Analyze customer-reported hardware issues, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve complex product issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and documentation to support field issue resolution and product improvements.
  • Identify recurring field issues and recommend design or process improvements to prevent future occurrences.

PCBA Engineering & Component Lifecycle Management

  • Support PCBA design, review, troubleshooting, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Review electrical designs and assist with component selection and integration.
  • Respond to component end-of-life, obsolescence, and availability issues affecting PCBAs, cabling, modules, and other hardware.
  • Identify qualified replacement components and evaluate technical compatibility, availability, cost, and performance.
  • Develop and execute testing required to qualify replacement components.
  • Coordinate implementation of approved component substitutions through appropriate engineering change processes.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Engineering teams to mitigate component-related product and production risks.

Cost Reduction & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce product costs while maintaining or improving quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Evaluate alternative components, technologies, suppliers, and design approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering, testing, manufacturing, and product support processes.
  • Participate in design-for-manufacturability, design-for-test, and design-for-cost initiatives.
  • Use data, testing, and engineering analysis to support recommendations and drive measurable improvements.

Benchmarking & Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct comparative evaluations of internal products, competitor hardware, and commercially available technologies.
  • Benchmark product performance, functionality, design approaches, and technologies against industry standards and competitive products.
  • Document findings and provide recommendations for future product development and improvements.

Technical Documentation

  • Create, maintain, and improve engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain functional specifications, test specifications, test procedures, design documentation, module specifications, and assembly documentation.
  • Ensure engineering documentation accurately reflects current product designs and requirements.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and other functional teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, product development meetings, manufacturing readiness reviews, and problem-solving activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to less-experienced engineers and team members as needed.
  • Communicate project status, technical risks, issues, and recommendations to engineering leadership.
  • Maintain a strong focus on product quality, customer requirements, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and time-to-market.
