Job description
Verveba Telecom is seeking experienced Data Center Technicians to support a large-scale data center infrastructure deployment. The work includes rack deployment, equipment installation, structured cabling, fiber connectivity, testing, troubleshooting, quality control, and project closeout.
Responsibilities
- Receive, unpack, inventory, stage, and move data center equipment and installation materials.
- Install, position, secure, and ground data center racks and cabinets.
- Install servers, network equipment, switches, routers, top-of-rack equipment, PDUs, SFPs, cable managers, and related hardware.
- Pull, route, dress, label, terminate, and connect fiber-optic and copper cabling.
- Work with LC, SC, MTP/MPO, RJ45, single-mode fiber, and multimode fiber connectivity.
- Install MPO-to-MPO trunk cables, patch panels, fiber enclosures, cassettes, and associated infrastructure.
- Perform connectivity verification, Layer 1 troubleshooting, and cable remediation.
- Use testing and inspection equipment, including power meters, VFLs, OTDRs, and fiber inspection scopes, as assigned.
- Identify damaged connectors, contamination, polarity issues, excessive loss, incorrect labeling, and other installation defects.
- Follow MOPs, drawings, cable schedules, port assignments, work instructions, and technical specifications.
- Complete quality checks, punch-list activities, redlines, and installation documentation.
- Maintain accurate labeling, test records, and production reporting.
- Coordinate effectively with project managers, supervisors, leads, and other technicians.
- Follow all site safety, quality, security, and housekeeping requirements.
- Perform other data center installation and support activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of relevant data center, telecommunications, structured cabling, or equivalent technical installation experience.
- Experience with rack or cabinet installation and equipment deployment.
- Experience installing and routing fiber-optic and copper cabling.
- Familiarity with fiber and copper connectors, patch panels, and structured cabling systems.
- Basic knowledge of Layer 1 connectivity and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and follow MOPs, construction drawings, cable schedules, port matrices, and engineering documentation.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and applicable cabling or testing equipment.
- Strong attention to quality, labeling, documentation, and installation standards.
- Ability to work safely, productively, and collaboratively in a fast-paced data center environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using power meters, VFLs, OTDRs, and fiber inspection scopes.
- Experience installing high-density MTP/MPO fiber infrastructure.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- BICSI, FOA/CFOT, manufacturer-specific fiber, or structured-cabling certifications.
- Scissor-lift, boom-lift, or other applicable equipment certifications.
Work Authorization
Candidates must meet the project’s work-authorization requirements and be either:
- A U.S. citizen; or
- A U.S. lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
- English proficiency sufficient to understand safety requirements, technical instructions, and project documentation.
- Flexibility to work daytime or nighttime shifts, weekends, overtime, and changing schedules as required by the project.
- Consistent attendance, punctuality, and compliance with site policies.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment throughout the work shift.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical installation work for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working around data center racks.
- Ability to work in overhead rack, ladder, pathway, and grid areas for extended periods.
- Ability to pull, route, and handle long lengths of data center cabling.
- Ability to safely move and handle racks, equipment, cables, tools, and installation materials appropriate to the assigned work.
- Ability to perform repetitive equipment-installation and cable-routing activities safely.
- Ability to work in an active construction and data center environment while following all safety requirements.
