Job description

You will work directly under the supervision and mentorship of an exceptionally experienced Senior C++ Engineer and technical architect. You’ll gain exposure to sophisticated C++ development and the design of high-performance security technology.

This is not a maintenance role or a conventional software development position. You will be joining while the technology and the business are scaling. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a product with significant commercial ambitions and the potential for a future profitable exit.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and enhancing software, primarily in modern C++
  • Working closely with our senior C++ technical lead on architecture, implementation and optimisation
  • Contributing to the continued development of our cyber threat-detection technology
  • Writing efficient, reliable and maintainable production-quality code
  • Debugging and optimising complex applications
  • Working with multithreading, networking, memory management and performance-critical code where appropriate
  • Collaborating with the wider technical team as the platform develops and scales
  • Learning advanced C++ techniques directly from a highly experienced practitioner, The attraction of this position is as much about where it could take you as the role you perform today.

You will work alongside and learn from an outstanding senior C++ engineer while helping to build sophisticated technology in one of the world’s most important and fastest-moving software sectors.

For an ambitious developer who wants to progress from being a good C++ programmer to an exceptional C++ engineer, this is a potentially career-defining opportunity.

If you are technically curious, ambitious and excited by the prospect of helping to build pioneering cybersecurity technology from an early stage, we would like to hear from you.

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Requirements

You are likely to have around 2-3 years of commercial C++ development experience and a strong desire to become an exceptional C++ engineer. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong fundamentals rather than simply an impressive list of technologies.

Knowledge of the following would be advantageous:[RV1]

  • C++17/20/23 and the STL
  • Object-oriented programming and templates
  • Concurrency
  • Linux
  • Git
  • Networking
  • Debugging tools

Previous cybersecurity experience would be valuable but is not essential if you have excellent C++ capabilities and a genuine interest in security technology.
